Some of the random subjects of my conversation the other night with Dad were death, living, and well, babies. Sensitive topics for sure, the last one got him all worked up, especially when he learned that I forego a chance to adopt a soon-to-be-born baby because of Mom's condition. I think he understood where I was coming from for he said, "Well, maybe it's not your time to rear a kid yet."
Anyway, the first two sort of inspired today's chosen tunes for my TTT participation. I heard the song below months ago and it stuck with me somehow. ...Send me away with the words of a love song...
The Band Perry - If I Die Young
I loved Kim's voice with the accompaniment of her brothers Reid Perry (bass guitar, background vocals), and Neil Perry (mandolin, bouzouki, background vocals).
It did not occur to me that they belonged to one family until a little while ago when I was reading their bio.
The song was part of their self-debut album which was released in 2010. It reached number one on the US Billboard Hot Country Songs and Hot Adult Contemporary Tracks charts and was certified 9x multi-platinum. It won awards like Single of the Year and USA Weekend Breakthrough Video of the Year.(src)
Kim released her version of the song in 2023.
The Band Perry - Better Dig Two
This tune reminds me of Shania Twain's That Don't Impress Me Much. The song's melody was quite similar. Country yeah!
The Band Perry - Live Forever
This single was released on the 14th of August 2015. The music video premiered on CMT the following day. Accordingly, they collaborated with Pop producer RedOne. They transitioned to pop music in 2016.
The band received several nominations and won ten awards, including Top Vocal Group, Top New Artist, Group Video of the Year, etc. The group disbanded in 2023 to focus on their solo careers.
