Hold Yu Tonight because there's No Time

Hello everyone!

Have you ever experienced a scenario where you came across a song you once played long time ago, and began to play the song repeatedly as if you just met it for the first time. Yeah, not only me.

For the past four days, I’ve been playing "No Time" by Ice Prince and Wizkid. It’s a very old song that’s not particularly popular, only known by those of us who followed Ice Prince and Wizkid in their early days. @bisolamih, do you know this song?

Gyptian's version

This song was actually sampled from Gyptian’s hit track "Hold Yuh," which was released in 2010. The Ice Prince & Wizkid version was released the same year, right after the original "Hold Yuh" by Gyptian.

I love "No Time" so much, maybe because it’s more relatable to me, or maybe it’s because it’s done by the artists I like. I adore this version, especially since the chorus is almost identical to Gyptian’s version, and Ice Prince perfectly rhymed the verses with his cool, smooth way of crafting words in an understandable manner.

To complete the song selection for my entry into Three Tune Tuesday, I’m bringing in "Tonight" by R2Bees featuring Wizkid. This duo, R2Bees, are among the few favorite artists I like from Ghana. I’ve known them for a very long time, especially with their hit tracks featuring Nigerian artists.

This song, "Tonight," gives me a nostalgic feeling whenever it plays. It brings back good memories from the day it was released when I was still in school. Our landlord back then, a very young guy, would have this song on repeat while sitting with a cigarette in his hand and a bottle of dry gin by his side. Good memories! I loved hearing that song often, and the landlord became a channel through which God granted my wish.

Thanks for reading.
