I have seen allot of adverts about Bandlap but haven't tried any of it's features yet, maybe it's time I explore other tools to make a good sound...

I can highly recommend cakewalk and waveform to you. Bandlab is good but does not allow for 3rd party plugins. But if you just want to record and use samples it can be good as well as a social platform where you can share your music and get discovered on the website itself, and a free mastering section.
