August, 1 🎸 This day in the history of rock music🎸ON THIS DAY...

This is a test article. There are not many events in it, but if you like it, I will try to write something interesting as often as possible.

I hope you enjoy it.

First broadcast of MTV

It was on August 01, 1981 that the once mega-popular MTV channel began broadcasting. Each of us has ever watched video clips on this channel, some (like me) could not live a day without it. The broadcast began at 12:01 pm, and the first video that saw the world was the composition "Video Killed the Radio Star" performed by the famous The Buggles.

Remarkably, on the same day in 1987, the channel began broadcasting in Europe, only with a different song - “Money For Nothing”, played by Dire Straits. The song's lyrics included the following line: "I Want My MTV".

By the way, I have no idea whether it exists in my country in modern times. Probably yes, but it is no longer viewed the way it used to be, even in the early 2000s.

On August 1, 1968, Mick Jagger began his acting career.

It was on this day that the film premiere of the “Performance” tape took place, in which the Rolling Stones frontman played a minor role and acted as a composer. Curious if any of you have seen this movie? Write about your impressions in the comments.

"Stand Up"

Also, back in 1969, on the first of August, the second album of the British band Jethro Tull, entitled "Stand Up", was released. The studio work was also remembered by many fans by the departure of guitarist Mick Abrahams, which is why "Stand Up" is often called a transitional step in the band's work. Elements of folk and jazz began to appear in the music, and Anderson began to use unusual instruments in recordings and in performances. This is what can be called the hallmark of Jethro Tull.

On August 1, 1960, Elvis Presley became an enemy of the people. The East German newspaper "Young World" published an article in which it was reported that the King is "public enemy number one".

Also in 1982, AEROSMITH released "Rock In A Hard Place".

Naturally, these are not all significant events dated August 1. I decided not to remember the birthdays and deaths of musicians, we are constantly reminded of this on various sites dedicated to music and its history.

Thank you for this article

I can't imagine how much text there would be if author listed all the musicians' birthdays.
