Just recently, I shared with you my impression of the new material from the band Lamb of God called "Omens". Once again, I hasten to tell you about the latest news in the world of rock music. And today I can't help but write about the band whose album is on my list of the best this year.
This is a band from Sweden called The Halo Effect. Most likely this name does not mean anything to you. The team is new, but all its members are famous musicians.
The Halo Effect is a supergroup consisting of former In Flames members, as well as Mikael Stanne, known to the world as the creator and vocalist of the Dark Tranquility team. One of the founding members of THE is none other than Jesper Strömblad, the founding member of the In Flames. Actually, the music of The Halo Effect is a kind of combination (or variation) of the above-mentioned eminent Swedish bands.
"Days of the Lost" is the debut studio album by The Halo Effect. The work was warmly received by critics and fans due to the fact that the compositions contain nostalgic echoes of better times, when In Flames were considered, if not a cult, but very significant band of the new wave of extreme metal.
In the tracks of "Days of the Lost", in addition to melodic death metal, there are also notes of modern. Interestingly, the styles are perfectly combined and do not spoil the overall impression of the album.
The material on the disc listens cheerfully, with a lot of worthy, catchy melodies and riffs. The talent and mood of the musicians can be heard from the very first seconds, and the composition that opens the tracklist is already worthy of being called a hit.
"Days of the Lost" is a track that can be said to be typical of the In Flames period of their Clayman recording period. It was nice to hear this song.
The album sounds rich and dense, the songs are harmoniously woven into the tracklist. Musicians do not remake what they have created before, like many supergroups. It feels like they're filling in the gaps in their discography. They offer us to hear what they did not have time to present to our ears before, when they were at the top.
"Days of the Lost" is a great addition to a heavy metal connoisseur's collection. I listen to this album almost every day for a week and admire the work of The Halo Effect. This is a nostalgic record, powerful, emotional and memorable.
