Bored or very busy? Whatever the first or second statement, here we are again with #newtunes, a selection of new music suggestions that, if you want and have a few minutes to spare, can brighten up your weekend and beyond.
As usual, we again have well-known and less-known musicians trying to get our attention with new songs. Let's give them a chance, because it costs you nothing, just a few minutes of our time. Maybe you will even like something.
If not, you can just skip it.

Peggy Gou, Lenny Kravitz - I Believe In Love Again
DJ, producer, and cultural icon Peggy Gou, in collaboration with the legendary Lenny Kravitz, released a new single 'I Believe In Love Again' a few days ago.
"He agreed to the collaboration, went into the studio and turned the lead vocals into magic, wrote additional lyrics and created a stunning guitar riff. I'm thrilled", she said.
An artist's sound that defies categorization, it's a timeless R&B anthem that reflects her diverse range of influences and open musical philosophy. In the song, we hear Kravitz as never before.
Peggy Gou has the status of one of the most sought-after DJs in the world, someone who can perform anywhere, from the biggest festivals to the most reliable underground events.
Corto.Alto - Mechanisms
Liam Shortall, the man behind the Corto.Alto project is, or so say the insiders, one of the wunderkinds of the new Scottish jazz scene. He is a trombonist but has been active in various fields in recent years, from playing for academic jazz collectives and orchestras to producing beats with jazz elements.
After a few years of preparation, he and his friends gathered enough material for their first album, Bad With Names.
An orchestral jazz beat. A little bit of everything but full of sounds, melodies, and beats, packed with jazz styles from different periods. I highly recommend the whole album.
Laster - PoeΜtische waarheid
Laster, a three-piece band from Utrecht, the Netherlands, has been around for 10 years. In October this year, they released their fourth studio album Andermans mijne, which steers their sound towards more melodic, post-rock, and shoegaze melodies, but still with the edge they started with.
In short, they've managed to push black metal to the edge of funk and progression, bringing to the listener a dance beat that's still quite infectious.
Robert Finley - Miss Kitty
Now we'll descend into the swampy landscapes with the sounds of blues, gospel, rock'n'roll, and soul.
Robert Finley, a singer-songwriter from Louisiana who has been on the music scene since the last century, has recorded a new album, Black Bayou, this year at the young age of 69. The album takes us through the different worlds of a well-known palette that includes rock'n'roll, swamp blues, R'n'B, soul and everything in between.
It's hard to really find or discover anything new in all these genres, but Finley has managed to give an otherwise rather classical musical form a good and humorous, even first-person lyrics, which illustrate his attitude towards life and this world. At the same time, it's all still that so-called dirty blues that hide under an otherwise mainstream manner.
For fans of the style, I recommend listening to the whole album.
Glen Hansard - Bearing Witness
Glen Hansard is an Irish singer, poet, composer, and guitarist from Dublin. He is also the frontman of the Irish rock band Frames. He has released five albums independently, most recently All That Was East Is West of Me Now in October this year. In his songs, he is mainly concerned with himself and his experience of the world around him.
Very lyrical, mostly somber, rarely upbeat, the whole musical picture is subordinated to the vocals and lyrics, but hey, what do you want, most artists express themselves that way.
Gruff Rhys - Silver Lining Lead Balloons
Gruff Rhys is a Welsh singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist, also in the bands Super Furry Animals and Neon Neon.
His eighth album Sadness Sets Me Free is coming in January next year and Silver Lining Lead Balloons is the second single from the forthcoming album.
A nice song in his classic style which is light but elegic with rich orchestral arrangements. Very cool for an autumn evening when you have nothing else to do (is there such a thing?) but listen to music.
Bar Italia - Real house wibes (desperate house vibes)
London trio, Bar Italia, who I've been following since end of May released a new album Twist last Friday. I like them (and I'm not the only one), especially their underground hypnotic sound where I hear Sonic Youth guitars, the late Lou Reed, and a young Iggy Pop.
When I looked at where they're playing in November, I saw that they're playing every day from yesterday until the end of the month, after gigs in various European cities. And in December, a tour of the United States. If they do well they will be big stars for sure. The Guardian says they are the heralds of musical steampunk. Maybe true.
Of course, I recommend the whole album.
Frankie and the Witch Fingers - Mild Davis
And finally, I'll just continue with guitar music.
Frankie and the Witch Fingers are an American band from Indiana, based in Los Angeles since 2013. They became more well-known when they started supporting ZZ Top and Cheap Trick.
A new name to me, I listened to them for the first time last Saturday for #beersaturday and it was their show on KXP Radio. They totally blew me away with their energy, fast rhythms, saxophones in the background, and great guitars.
A month ago they released their new seventh album, Data Doom. Modern guitar music draws on the tradition of the sixties and seventies. They also remind me a bit of KGLW. For the first time, I was in a dilemma about which song to present, because they're all great. Well, I decided on Mild Davis :)

There's not much to think about. The more I get involved with Corto.Alto, the more exciting the journey becomes.
I just need a little more time with Robert Finley. And he will get it! I've seen Eric Burdon live. He sounded not dissimilar - and was great to the last note.

Hello again! Listening to some of your songs again. Thanks for posting them here.
Lenny Kravitz, been a while since I heard something from him. Not my type of tune but I can dig the beat. Lots of old folks doing new stuff. Rolling Stones, Beatles, Paul Rogers, Alice Cooper, Dokken, Tull and more. Glad they are all still making music.
The Laster song was pretty good.
Robert Finney, pretty cool! Has a bit of Garage Rock vibe maybe. Bluesy for sure. "I put a spell on you" yeah I see why that is in the lyrics, sounds like that song a bit.

I agree with everything you said. Yeah, these Bar Italia ones are a bit disorganized, but I think it's intentional the way they sound, but that's just my opinion. They only have a couple of albums to show until now. They've got a lot of attention in the circles I move in, one of my mates has seen them live and says they're amazing.
