The Weeknd - One Week Until Tomorrow
Abel Makkonen Tesfaye, known as The Weeknd, is a Canadian singer, songwriter, and actor from Toronto with Eritrean roots. He has been performing since 2009 and has won Grammy, MTV, and other awards. His 2020 song Blinding Lights is still Spotify's most-streamed song of all time. His music can be described as a mix of R'n'B and pop, but each album has a different sound. So far, he has released six albums, the latest, Hurry Up Tomorrow, from which this song was taken last week.
Perfume Genius - It's a Mirror
Michael Alden Hadreas, or Perfume Genius from Des Moines, Iowa, USA, is one of the poets and musicians with Crohn's disease, which he has been actively fighting with music since 2008, mainly with his poetic, introverted, and emotionally intense lyrics.
He has several music nominations (15 β Grammy, MTV, Billboard, etc.) for songs and albums, three of which he has won. He has released five studio albums to date, and the song "It's a Mirror" is a preview of his sixth, Glory, which will be released at the end of March. The song is a melancholy, Americana-style self-reflection of being lost and confused in reality.
Jamie xx - F.U. ft. Erykah Badu
James Thomas Smith, or Jamie xx, is an English DJ, producer, musician, and sound designer. He is also known as a member of the English indie pop band The XX for his remixes of all kinds of music and for several Mercury and Grammy nominations. This visualizer and minimalist beat is from the recently released DeLuxe version of the album In Waves.
Erykah Badu, an American vocalist, aka the queen of neo-soul, assisted him with her vocals.
Lucrecia Dalt - cosa rara (ft. David Sylvian)
Lucrecia Dalt is a Colombian artist, musician, and film music composer (The Baby series and Cannes 2024 winner On Becoming a Guinea Fowl) living and working in Berlin, Germany.
Her work fuses experimental and pop music through poetry and electronic elements. This is a new name for me, but I was attracted to listen to her because, in this song, she collaborates with David Sylvian (band Japan), whom I respect a lot.
Dax Riggs - even the stars fall
Dax Riggs, a musician from Lafayette, Louisiana, is a former singer of the metal band Acid Bath. Fifteen years later, he woke up from his slumber and released his third solo album, 7 Songs For Spiders, a week ago. While his roots are in a mix of gospel, hillbilly, and classic metal, in his new product, he leans more towards doom and melodic gothic, abundantly supported by synths. Reccomend!
Deafheaven - Magnolia
Deafheaven is an American band from San Francisco. Black metal is their musical way of expressing themselves. They started in 2010 and have released five studio albums so far.
The song Magnolia is a preview of their new album Lonely People With Power, which will be released in March this year.
Fans of the genre will be pleased.
TETOUZE - Parallel reality
Tetouze is a French DJ, composer, and multi-instrumentalist - a new name for me. He started his musical journey in 2004 when he went to India and learned to play the sitar and a few other Indian instruments. He was part of the Minimal Fusion band and has released more than forty singles, EPs, and ambient and fusion electro music albums. He currently lives and works in Goa, India.
He also produces his videos, mainly with AI. This song is undoubtedly a feast for the eyes and ears.
Ante Upedanten - When The Music Is Over
Finally, something personal, ancient, in memory of my friend Marko Doles, drummer and singer of Ana Pupedan (1.pm - in English), who died in an accident in the mountains last Sunday. :(π
This song is a recording from the Mediterraneo festival, Izola, 1997, where Ante Upedanten - an acoustic version of Ana Popedan - an ethno-punk-coutry-rock band from Pivka, Slovenia, plays. We recorded with VHS cameras, and the sound was from the camera. If you're more interested in the band, you can find many more quality videos on YT. I'm proud that we've worked together and remained friends for decades.

When I listen to some songs, I just wonder how creative people can be. These are great tunes and you have always got a great taste.
Thank you. As I say, I always like to share music if I like it. There are a lot more creative musicians around than ever. The only problem is to hear them all. Not enough time. π
