Where to start ~ RIP Val Kilmer (December 31st 1959 - April 1st 2025)

I saw last week that Val Kilmer passed away. He was 65 and died of pneumonia and I believe he had battling with throat cancer since 2014 and had undergone chemo, treatments and surgeries.

For those that don't know he was an actor who starred in some cracking films, which also had some great soundtracks. Think Top Secret, Top Gun, The Doors, Tombstone, the Batman Forever and I am sure many others.

So today I decided to include some tunes from some of the films that Val Kilmer starred in.

So today we have three tunes from films that starred Val Kilmer....

When I think of Val Kilmer I think of Top Gun andhis cool character IceMan and this song ...

Tune 1 Top Gun • Take My Breath Away • Berlin

This was a classic film back in the day. Cinematography at its finest.

The song is a bit of a power ballad and became a hit in its own right and has been covered umpteen times.

The song was on Berlin's fourth studio album, Count Three & Pray, released in 1986.

Tune 2 Tombstone-Doc Holiday -Frederic Chopin- (Nocturne)

Before we actually hear the full length piece I just had to include this part from the film Tombstone. It isn't Kilmer playing, but he did practice for months to try and make it look realistic, because you know it is Frederic Fucking Chopin!

Full version, this from a channel that has 24 subscribers ...

Tune 2 in full Chopin Nocturne - Op. 72, No. 1 (yes, from Tombstone)

Tune 3 Batman Forever • Kiss From a Rose • Seal

There were two stand out tunes from Batman Forever, the U2 hit "Hold Me, Thrill Me, Kiss Me, Kill Me" and this one which I picked "Kiss from a Rose" by Seal.

It was the bigger hit worldwide I think and got to number one in the US and Australia and number four in the UK.

Seal is an artist that I think I should be making a ttt for as well!

I am going to close with a Bonus tune / short medlay so to speak from The Doors where he of course played the legendary Jim Morrison who he so uncannily looked like!

Bonus Tune Val Kilmer in THE DOORS

Which was your favourite Val Kilmer film tune or was it one of the many others that could have been chosen?

Note: The 5 YouTube videos that I have shared are not owned by me, I am simply spreading great music on Hive.

I wish that you all have a brilliant happy fun and terrific Tuesday until we meet again enjoy your tunes 🎶🎵🎶

Thanks for visiting!

DO WHAT YOU LOVE AND DO IT OFTEN

HASTE YE BACK

Sort:

Good stuff! I think my favorite Val Kilner movies were Real Genius and The Saint. Of course Top Gun was good too!

Oh yes I forgot he was in The Saint. That was such a cool book and TV series in the UK. I forgot there was a film.

I've only ever seen the film. It was really well done though.

I remember Val Kilmer from Top Gun and Batman. I was surprised by his death because I didn't know he was sick. Moreover, when I saw that he had died of pneumonia, I assumed that there was probably another illness behind that outcome. Although I loved all four pieces, the Berlin one was my favorite for a long time and reminds me of my teenage years. A movie hug for you, Ed!

He was in loads of films that I had forgotten about. A man of many talents. Yes alot of people do succumb to pneumonia as a result of other illnesses. A big shame though that another has gone so young. A big movie to you too Nancy :)

Val was a talented man, such a shame he died so young. I know 65 isn't exactly a spring chicken, but these days it seems like it. I was a huge Berlin fan, Teri Nunn still makes me salivate... Chopin from Tombstone, awesome. I've been to Tombstone a few times, the site of the gunfight next to the O.K. Corral is still there. It is a very narrow alley, I can't even imagine how smoky and terrifying that confrontation must have been. I do love Chopin though!

I was never a huge Seal fan, but that was a good song. But Val Kilmer as Jim Morrison, damn he was good. The Doors were such a great band, and I loved Kilmer in that role. My favorite of the day has to be the last. RIP Val, what a talented man!

I've been to Tombstone a few times, the site of the gunfight next to the O.K. Corral is still there

Oh wow, have you really? Actually that would be one place I would love to visit, see Boothill cemetery etc..

Teri Nunn hehe you and me both!

65 seems young now though, and yet another one that passes away. It is just too frequent now, I guess a sign of the times that we are getting older lol.

He really did nail Jim Morrison though, I am looking for it to watch again.

You would love it! Such a cool place. The Birdcage saloon is really cool, ghost hunters love that place because the lady in white is seen so often. I didn't see her though... Boot Hill Cemetery is on a hill, and although you have to pay to enter it is still a cemetery. The three men killed in the O.K. Corral are buried there with the sign you see in the movie.

Deserved tribute

Yeah was a shame.

Very sad, indeed

As I was scrolling down I was saying no way you missed the doors! I knew you wouldn’t! 🎸

A legend indeed! Cheers 🍻 to Val!

!PIMP

Hehe yeah I had to have him singing something, and The Doors was where it was to be from!

Aye cheers to Val 🍻
!BEER

I just like the first song. The rest I'm not familiar with. Even the actor, but those movies I know some before.

Hehe I am sure you heard of some of the films though, so what films do you enjoy?

Batman🤣😛

Ha, thanks for the info Bru... hope he RIP !

Heat is my favorite movie with Val. From that soundtrack i would choose 👇
