Today I wanted to shared an instrumental track by the band Morphine. Typical for the band, It's got a unique arrangement.
Morphine was founded by three members; Mark Sandman, Dana Colley, and Jerome Deupree. For this track and most of the album Billy Conway is playing drums instead of Jerome Deupree. 'Bo's Veranda' also features Mike Rivard on bass and Russ Gershon on Tenor sax.
It was first released as part of the soundtrack for the 1995 film 'Get Shorty' and then again on the album 'B-sides and Otherwise' in 1997.
Listening to it today I really noticed the richness and space in the mix, each element blends so well together. The guitar playing and tone is probably what stands out most to me, I love the classical/Spanish feel of it over the smooth bass and drum groove.
As always thanks for reading, I hope this song brought a little something to your day 🎧
