Designed with CanvasToday we take the stage to Redemption Song, originally composed and performed by Bob Marley, included in the 1980 album Uprising, the last one to be released before his death, due to cancer, in May 1981. It is a song that invites to emancipation, to the end of prejudices and injustices on which inequalities that still persist in our time were founded; but it invites us, most of all, to liberation from mental slavery, which traps us in a prison of fears and threats coming from powers that "none of them can stop time". It is a beautiful, universal message of great relevance in these days in which world war and the ghost of nuclear holocaust seem to be hanging over our heads once again.
Hoy subimos al escenario a Redemption Song, un tema compuesto e interpretado originalmente por Bob Marley, incluido en el álbum Uprising de 1980, el último en lanzarse antes de su muerte, a causa del cáncer, en mayo de 1981. Es un tema que invita a la emancipación, al fin de los prejuicios e injusticias sobre los que se fundaron desigualdades que aún persisten en nuestro tiempo; pero nos invita, sobretodo, a la liberación de la esclavitud mental, que nos atrapa en una cárcel de miedos y amenazas provenientes de poderes “incapaces de detener el tiempo”. Un mensaje hermoso, universal y de una gran vigencia en estos días en los que la guerra mundial y el fantasma del holocausto nuclear parecen balancearse de nuevo sobre nuestras cabezas.
Many are the versions that have been made of this song, most of them of great quality and undoubted merits. The ones by Joe Strummer and Johnny Cash (as a duet and each one on their own), U2, Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam, Sinéad O'Connor, Gondwana, Rihanna, Ataque 77, Enrique Bunbury, Ziggy Marley and Cultura Profética, among many others, stand out. But we have chosen a very special one, both for its quality and for its character of collective construction in which the spirit of the song is realized.
We are talking about the beautiful version of the Playing for The Change Project, who since 2005 seek to connect the world through music, assembling collaborations of musicians around the planet and promoting the teaching of music in the most vulnerable sectors with the construction of schools and the financing of educational programs.
In this version, included in the compilation album PFC 2: Songs Around The World (2011), participates Stephen Marley, the fourth son of Bob Marley and Rita Anderson, who in addition to joining the voices and virtuosic performances of several musicians around the world, thanks to technology, adds his voice to his father's, inviting us to sing "another song of freedom".
Muchas son las versiones que se han hecho de este tema, la mayoría de gran calidad e indudables méritos. Destacan las de Joe Strummer y Johnny Cash (a dúo y cada uno por su cuenta), U2, Stevie Wonder, Pearl Jam, Sinéad O'Connor, Gondwana, Rihanna, Ataque 77, Enrique Bunbury, Ziggy Marley y Cultura Profética, entre muchos otros. Pero hemos escogido una muy especial, tanto por su calidad como por su carácter de construcción colectiva en la que se realiza el espíritu de la canción.
Hablamos de la bellísima versión del Proyecto Playing for The Change, quienes desde 2005 buscan conectar al mundo a través de la música, ensamblando colaboraciones de músicos alrededor del planeta y promoviendo la enseñanza de la música en los sectores más vulnerables con la construcción de escuelas y el financiamiento de programas educativos.

Hello @tupamalo. Hello. What a nice project you have presenting the original vs. the remakes. It's not often I like to listen to remakes. They have to be as good or better than the original, which is hard to accomplish.

Gracias, mis queridos... De los contenidos que trabajo para esta plataforma, este es uno de los que más placer me produce; por eso me encanta el doble que la gente cuyo criterio aprecio y respeto tanto lo valore y disfrute.
Ciertamente, este tema tiene todo lo que necesita una buena canción para hacerse universal y eterna. Por eso siempre vuelvo a ella y siempre me reanima y me emociona.
