Some of these guys paved the way for Techno and electronic music - I do not talk about Kraftwerk from Germany or the Brits around Depeche Mode / Visage - I talk about the likes of a French guys that used synthi sounds already i 1970ies and others later that later became famous as they produced music for movies and such.
Jan Hammer
Jan Hammer (Czech pronunciation: [ˈjan ˈɦamɛr]) (born 17 April 1948) is a Czech-American musician, composer, and record producer.[1] He rose to prominence while playing keyboards with the Mahavishnu Orchestra during the early 1970s, as well as with his film scores for television and film including "Miami Vice Theme" and "Crockett's Theme", from the 1980s television program Miami Vice. He has continued to work as both a musical performer and producer.
Harold Faltermeyer
A fellow German (Harald originally but as of US scene he swapped the "a" to an "o" within Har...ld") - we even share same birthday (October 5) - from Munich and most known to combine electronic sounds with guitars - his main successful sounds are known to all of you from movies as main anthems for "Beverly Hills Cop" and "Top Gun" - while the Top Gun anthem is one of my all time favourites (with the guitar play by Steve Stevens, the former guitar player for Billy Idol)
Giorgio Moroder
Harald was once recognized by the original hero of movie electronic sounds - an Italian (Südtirol besser für uns Deutsche) who helped him - so Giorgio Moroder is another of these guys (he brang Harald to the US in the late 1970ies) - my favourites below (The Chase - a true classic!):
He is now 84 years old and invented or opened the door for such music types for the Hollywood industry, he also worked with Donna Summer and Daft Punk - so you remember the probably first dance movie "Flashdance" - Giorgio made it happen:
In my youth while watching the 1984 Olympics in LA his song followed me - hence this where I got to know him:
THE hero is from France - Jean Michel Jarre
Jean-Michel is a French composer, performer and record producer.
He is THE pioneer in the electronic, ambient and new-age genres, and is known for organising outdoor spectacles featuring his music, accompanied by vast laser displays, large projections and fireworks. Damn this guy filled any stadium with new sounds and ideas - he is the pioneer in my view for all electronic music that followed - and he is French!
Merci Jean-Michelle - you are my HERO!
Glad you still play live on stream! Check this my #Hive friends to learn about the background and to discuss the future of music and AI's role in the creative industry.
Jean is still inventing himself live - I admire that guy! I encourage anyone of you to listen to this entire show! Merci La France, merci bien Jean-Michel!
