My son, following my footsteps in music, proud dad.

They say, like father like son, and in our case it is true. I have two sons (both of whom I am crazy about) But the youngest is kind of following in my footsteps when it comes to making music. He has been playing bass for a while now and I have to say, he is doing very well :). He now plays in a band with all young musicians and they play a very varied repertoire. (and besides, they perform more often than we do lol)

He plays in the band "Down to Earth" and the funny thing is that the members of the band were also in a band together in this line-up when they were all in school together. That was a while ago so how nice is it that they have found each other again.

Their repertoire is very varied, from local rock and roll to the well-known top 40 numbers. They also don't shy away from old rock songs. (see the recording at the bottom of this post).

There was a time when my son was sick and they had a gig, he asked me if I could possibly stand in for him if he didn't get better in time. Of course I wanted to, luckily he got better in time. It would have been a funny sight, such an old grandpa with young musicians on stage, people would have asked if I was lost lol....

I think I wrote it once before, but my bass is sacred to me. A good friend built it especially for me, so there is only one of them in the whole world. My son asked me a while ago if he could play it, he immediately said "I know how careful you are with that bass and what it means to you, I will handle it very carefully". I didn't really have to think about it, of course he could. Yes, I do handle it carefully, but it is and remains an instrument that needs to be played :) So now he regularly takes it with him to performances. (By the way, I wouldn't lend it to someone else that quickly)

I am equally proud of both my sons but I think it is really great that my youngest also plays bass and shares my passion. I am just afraid that it will not take long before he plays better than his old man.

Have a great weekend,

Peter

You should be proud. I'm sure he will have a lot of fun with music.
