Thanks to the initiative of @edwardstobia and because I saw a post by @musicandreview, I was motivated to talk about 3 bands from the city of Puerto Ordaz - Venezuela, a city where I attended many musical concerts and had the opportunity to see great musical groups such as those I am going to name. Although most of my life I have been in the city of Valencia - Venezuela, the city of Puerto Ordaz has been a place where I was raised and where I have many relatives and friends who at some point were in that rock and metal music scene in the city.

The posts of the users mentioned above brought back many memories and nostalgia from that time, when one lived mainly for music or at least I saw it that way, while many told me that it was just a phase, after so many years it is a lifestyle that is part of me, I continue listening to those musical genres that I loved since I was little even though at this moment there is no longer a musical movement as significant as before, but still there are those good times that I shared with my friends when I attended those musical recitals, even in those recitals I got to know many people, who today I consider as friends.

Of course it is a time that I will never forget and perhaps later I can have that experience again. In part it motivated me to learn to play a musical instrument and to have in some way a philosophy of life that helped me understand this world. Therefore I will mention 3 bands that from my point of view became legends of the music of the city of Puerto Ordaz, a city that at one point had a large number of musical groups of excellent quality.

The first one to mention is Etica Etilica, one of the older ones I'm going to mention. I think this band dates back to the 90s, but it was definitely a musical group that harmoniously combined the sounds of metal with a bit of a twist. I remember seeing them for the first time more than 15 years ago and from that moment on, when they started playing, their rhythm was so catchy that it made anyone move their head.

I haven't heard anything more about them. I don't know if they continued making music or simply disappeared, but they left an indelible mark on the music of this region. I remember seeing them about 4 times, and once I managed to see them in another city and many people came to love the peculiar sound of this band, which beyond the theme they played, their sound was almost perfect live.

Secondly, I'll mention Gore Asylum, perhaps one of the best Venezuelan Death Metal bands I've ever heard in my life. This is a musical group that dates back to 2001, its sound was similar to Cannibal Corpse, even with a vocalist who was very similar to vocalist George Fisher. They maintained a dense but technical sound at the same time.

I remember seeing them on several occasions in the city, when every weekend there were many musical recitals. But after a few years I understand that this band broke up because several members left the country due to all the political and economic problems that were developing, although vocalist Sergio Ferreira continued creating other musical projects in the country, however I must say that I have never heard them, perhaps he maintains the same musical influence that he had in Gore Asylum.

And finally I must mention this youngest band among the three but which at this time no longer exists, but at the time I loved having heard them and seen them live, which I got to know through a friend who became the vocalist of the same. This is Evogath, which was made up of young musicians who were very virtuous on their musical instruments, reaching a very technical sound in their own performance.

Live they also maintained that good sound and I really liked several of their songs, one felt a lot of passion for going to every concert where they could advertise, without a doubt I was able to enjoy them several times both live and in some rehearsals to which they invited me. Then this band ceased to exist due to the same circumstances as many bands in the country, although many of these musicians continue to make their career from other countries. Just like my friend Junior Patiño, who I have known since he was very young and became a vocal part of Evogath and is currently in Colombia with his musical projects.

But I could not fail to mention a band that is currently giving a lot of talk and it is precisely from the city of Puerto Ordaz, where I also have a friend who has been working hard for years on his own music. This is Vhill, a Death Metal band that won a contest to play at Wacken 2025, and the truth is that it is a source of pride that despite all the circumstances there are still bands in this country that continue working on their dreams.
