The joy of delightfulness

We are scooping up and taking in delight in all the many ways it arrives to us: we delight in the morning - the solitude of morning and the chatter of morning, and morning's light. We delight in the way the sun seeps in slowly now that it's September, reminding us to go easy when we are starting again. We delight in that first sip of coffee. And in the choosing of the coffee cup. We delight in the knowledge that a day can consist of so much. We delight in the idea that anything might change, and that anything might be here to stay.

We delight in thunder lilies and sunbirds. On a stormy, rainy evening after an exhausting day at work. In putting our feet in the water. Winter air kissing cheeks, thanking us for being outside (you're welcome). We delight in the sound of the river. The sound of the trees. The unfurling of a new monstera leaf. In watching tomato vines grow, watching the tomatoes turn red. How even the moon brings delight. We delight in snowy days, even when it blocks the driveway.

We delight in the smell of dad's cooking. In kids bursting through the door shouting mom guess what!!!! We delight in the soft rumble of babies drifting off to sleep. In gummy baby smiles. The peach fuzz of babies' shoulders. The soft flutter in the abdomen, wondering if the feeling is a little life growing in there. In tiny chatter and hilarious kid questions. In college kids make Grown Up Decisions but also still ask for advice.

We delight in allowing partners to reveal different sides of ourselves. In the comfortable silence of close friendships. In finding soulmates in the people who surround us. In the gift of drawing near. We delight in 100% presence in forgetting what time it is, in tucking toes under a leg. When eyes meet ours from across the room. We delight in closeness. We delight in alone time. We delight in the great joy of self-love. In the great joy of being loved and feeling loved and feeling anchored in the love of each other.

We delight in poetry that feels like someone is holding our hand through it all. We delight in a good pen. We feel the joy of sitting on a picnic blanket at the park watching dogs run about. We delight in the delight of the cat enjoying their chin scratches. We delight in Taylor Swift's album announcement (we are blessed). We feel the joy of hearing people laugh on curb-side patios as we walk by. We feel the joy in biting into a fresh nectarine. We delight in the sweetness of a funny text, or a meandering phone call. We delight in someone reaching for our hand.

We delight in the way life shifts when we look for the wonders in front of us. We delight in being able to delight.

This was a delightful read.
It's these simple little things that are a big part of our lives. All the things that you mention are indeed what we need to turn into and learn to see the beauty in everything around us.

Life does not have to be as complicated as we effortlessly make it.

Thanks for stopping by:)

You're very welcome.
See you around:)

This is a beautiful reflection...I would add that we delight because we are alive, we delight because we enjoy the present.

Thank you for sharing this!

I'm glad that you like the delightfulness

Ayee! Another wholesome poem of yours!💙

Recently my poems got dulled, so I tried to make something different and here is the result. =D

And this is a successful experiment! Just try to be consistent with your writing 💙
