Beyond the Surface, Something more

in The MINIMALIST8 hours ago

In the earlier years of my life, I had to go through the phase of questioning myself regarding certain things. Two of those questions I would always ask myself were “What do I have inside of me?”, and “Do I have something within to offer to society?” This sometimes bothers me a lot. I have suffered from low self-esteem for years, where I kept doubting myself about having more inside me and if I was ever capable of handling anything.

But slowly I got to realize that there is more inside of everyone. We just needed focus. I had to look at the prompt over and over again and finally, I got to understand that in Minimalism, one would need to declutter and simplify their environment and physical possessions, and by doing this, you get to create space for deeper self-reflection and personal growth. Sometimes we get too distracted by our possessions and the next thing to buy that we forget to realize that there’s more to life than physical possessions.

If there is one way, I explore the more inside of me, it is Practicing Mindfulness, which involves me taking a walk. I had a situation where I was trying to design a product and I just couldn’t get any inspiration. I couldn’t even think of anything. I couldn’t tell if I was distracted but then I thought I was experiencing a creativity block. I had to take a walk out to the field. I had to leave my working environment and go for a walk. I knew this would help me think properly. Since I am a lover of nature, I was certain whenever I take such walks I tend to explore my inner mind.

After the walk, I went back to my laptop and I felt better, I was able to design well. I have created a daily routine of taking a walk even if it’s for a short time, just to help me get “some air”. This is one tactic that has been helpful for me when it comes to exploring my inner self and bringing out the more inside of me.

Another activity I partake in is meditating alongside a cup of coffee every morning. I would always say a quiet morning is always my kind of morning. There is more to sitting down and just drowning in the peace of the morning atmosphere. This has helped me explore the richness in myself even before starting my day. I would always say that I would choose early morning meditation over anything.

It would always make you feel at peace and give you this positivity of “you got more to offer to the world” and “you are a great person”, I think this meditation has helped me build my confidence over the years. Before now, I would just want to wake up and start my day but now I tend to wake up earlier and use some time for my meditation which has helped me discover who I am inwardly and this has been helpful in my everyday life.
