Greetings!
Sometimes I wish life could be free of bugging thoughts that weigh one down from time to time. I wish we could just live without problems that bother the mind. But that's how life is—it can't always be smooth. In fact, it's during those moments of mindfulness that one identifies the parts that are unbearably heavy and, if possible, cuts them off.
Among the many mindful practices to search for and eliminate the bugs in my heart, the ones that work best for me are nature walks coupled with meditation. I do this often because life hasn’t been easy, and it keeps getting tougher every day. The life outside might look fine, but deep down, there's always one bugging thought clashing within. And because it's a mind thing, the mind needs to be worked on to settle everything and make life flow more smoothly.
Currently, I live in the city—a very noisy one—because my apartment is close to the road. But my saving grace is that the end of my street is more like a developing area where houses are still being built, and the bushes haven’t been cleared off. There are palm trees, cashew trees, farms growing cassava, and many other features you’d typically find in village settings.
Most times, I just pick up my phone, lock my house, and stroll down to the end of the street for a walk. The goal is to calm my mind and settle whatever is bugging it, and it usually works with utmost ease. By the time I start noticing the beauty of nature, with my hands brushing against and touching the soft, beautiful leaves of cassava, a smile begins to spread across my face. Those troubling thoughts get submerged, reminding me that life is truly beautiful. It teaches me that life shouldn’t always be troubled if we take things as easily as the plants and trees, which live free and sway to the breeze that blows them.
It doesn’t stop there—the birds and their sounds are part of this experience too. For someone like me, who grew up in the village where farming was our main occupation, I was very accustomed to the sounds of birds. Oftentimes, there were certain birds that sang with a particular tone. During those times, while we were working on the farm, once these birds started singing, we would recognize the melody and whistle along with it. It was so much fun, like singing with another human, because the birds responded as if they knew the next line we were about to whistle.
Now, coming across those birds and their familiar sounds gets me chuckling. It’s almost unbelievable that the birds in my village and those in the city produce the same songs. Does this sound like an exaggeration? Not at all. If you’re familiar with birds, try this out for yourself. Coming across those birds and hearing their songs is such a delightful experience. It tingles my mind and eases off any lingering sorrows or worries, bringing back fond memories and a sense of peace.
The feelings from nature are underrated!

Yeah. It's even hard to believe that the birds in my village and city would still produce same songs with the ones in your country. Nature indeed has wonders.🏞️
