Waste Disposal Strategy (Kiss #153)

in The MINIMALIST10 days ago (edited)

This probably seem insignificant but it is one strategy that has incredibly made life easier for me. Minimalism in character and practical for me is anything, any habit or practice that makes my life easier.

Now, without beating around the bush, the one habit that has made my life easier is wearing my dust bins with nylon before throwing dirt in them.

This may seem like something that should be common sense and everyone should know, but you’ll be surprised at how many don’t know this.

Growing up, I certainly didn’t. Dust bins are for holding dirt and when they get full, you carry them to the dump pit to dispose them.

But I always hated the smell that comes from leaving the dustbin there for five days before disposing the dirt. I also hated carrying the dustbin because I would always imagine the deadly and disgusting germs crawling up my bare hands as I carry the din. And lastly, I absolutely hated how it leaves the bin dirty and slimy which means, I’d have to wash the bin every time I dispose the dirt. That was extremely time wasting.

However, I don’t know when it started or how it even started but ever I bought a new bin, I just know that I loved how neat it looked and wanted it to remain that way forever, so I took the black nylon I came home with from the market, and wore it over the bin, now, I dispose my pin when it’s full by just removing the nylon, tying it to seal the mouth and the dispose. Then I wear a fresh nylon on my bin.

This habit leaves my bin fresh and clean, it’s easier to carry the dirt this way because my hands are not making a direct contact and most importantly, I’m not creating a mess at the dump pit since tying my wastes in a nylon keeps everything tidy.

If you have never practiced this before, I highly recommend. It also add this finesse to your room in a way that says, “I am a smart person that enjoys a clean space that is not only clutter free but also clutter sorted”

How about you? What minimalism habit do you have that makes your life easier? You can also check out this post to participate in the prompt.

I was not aware that was something people didn't do! It's always been common where I'm from, and I agree, it saves so much time (not to mention keeps everything much less gross). It's still good to give the bin itself a wash every now and again, but much less than just if you were dumping things straight in the bin.

It is quite surprising how many things are supposed to be "the norms" but people ain't aware of.
Thank you for your comment.
