Growing up , we were often taught the value of selflessness, just as the scripture admonished. As Christians, we are called to sacrifice, just as our perfect example did by laying down His life. However, in the midst of this noble call to sacrifice, we sometimes find ourselves caught in an unending cycle of demands, either on our time, gifts, or energy that can even lead us to burnout.
Recently it dawned on me that while we’ve been taught so much about selflessness, there hasn’t been nearly enough emphasis on self-love. Yet, self-love is just as important. As important as it is to practice selflessness it is equally important to learn self love. For in this you will clearly identify the thin line between burning out and pouring out from a filled vèssel
The next time you find yourself in a self-sacrificial moment, pause and ask yourself: "Am I giving to others in a way that harms my well-being?" If the answer is yes, then take a step back and practice self-love. Remember, no one can pour from an empty vessel.
Self-love is not selfishness. It’s about intentionally filling your vessel so you can give or pour out freely and joyfully without compromising your health or peace.
This year, commit to being big on self-love. Fill your cup first, and then pour out from a place of abundance—not exhaustion.

Great post! I love the reminder that self-love is just as important as selflessness. We really can’t pour from an empty vessel. Thanks for sharing this!
I understans your point, sit well before you lap anybody because on the long run when you are stranded nobody may come to help you
