Wow! What a great idea on how to travel light. I usually do the same, do not have my luggage, and only have my backpack so I could easily move from one transportation to another without being stressed about the things I am carrying. That is why I call myself a backpacker. Hehe. Or unless I have to travel for how many days, then I have the luggage but still limited to only one, compressed and everything there. Yes, it's important to pass a "kung-fu kick test" when dressing for my travels. Also, I want to be able to jump and run if I need to.
Cargo pants are lighter than jeans, as I hate any form of discomfort around my waist.
