As an introvert, I've found joy in so many non-material things, mostly because I'm indoors for an unhealthy amount of hours. So, as you could probably guess, Reading is the first non-material thing that makes me spiral; yes, I know it's a genetic thing, introverts, and books, but mine is different. Now, I know books are physical but reading isn't. That's why it's non-material.
Each time I pick up a book, I am no longer present in this world. I learn new things through reading. It puts me on the edge, makes me excited, and overall, I'm kicking my feet, and my happy meter is through the roof. Reading can never be explained properly but yes. It's my favorite stuff.
While reading is amazing and steals my heart every time, I can't always do it, which dampens my mood. Here is where music comes to the rescue, which brings us to number two. Music.
I listen to a lot of songs, I don't have a specific genre but anything with a good beat is in my playlist. I'm especially into slow old songs, like Englishman by Sting, Son of Man by Phil, etc. I also occasionally bop to Afrobeats but that's by the way. I love music, I love the beats, the lyrics, and the feeling that comes with the art.
Music has a way of manipulating your emotions, it could fit the theme of your life, and everything could feel so right with just a click of a button. That's why music is another source of Joy and my headphones make the sound even more prominent, highlighting the experience even more.
Now, I know I said earlier I'm an introvert but in the right room, I'm sort of a yapper. Crazy combination, I know but it's another thing that makes me the happiest girl alive. Talking on the radio. Last year, I put up several videos of me talking on my socials, and I got so many opportunities. I even started a broke girl podcast, I had so much fun interviewing people and learning from others. I was getting compliments in my DM and in comments, my voice was a superpower I had just unlocked.
And just like the Justice League sort for new heroes, I was sorted out for many gigs, one of which included yapping on the radio, about music and books. It was heaven on earth the day I received that message.
Three of my favorite things merged into one. I was excited, giggling, and ready to face my people's phobia and nailed this and I did because I got callbacks and for over 5 months, I talked my listener's ear off. It was an amazing feeling, one of feeling that material things can't compete with.
Well, that's it, Reading, listening to music, and talking on the radio.

This is so weird! I literally just began listening to Harry Potter the other day, with my daughter (she loves it so far.. And calls Dumbledore by the name of "Buddibuddi").
Personally I like listening to audio books more than reading, but that's because I tend to zone out when I read and then I have to read the page again, and again... and again. You get the drill 😅
Well done on finding something that is just up your alley 🙌🏼

Aww. It is not weird. It is the way our spirits communicate. I would love to hear your daughter say Buddibuddi. I am sure she does it confidently and with so much innocence.
Yes, I get it and I will not judge you for that because we all have our strengths and yours is in audiobooks. I hope one day, you will listen to me reading a book.
Thank you.

Oh I love that song, it's just so slow and really works for a rainy day. I also hum tunes when the world is silent.
