Less is more: Food on a Budget

Most of the tastiest, yummiest and most expensive, show off and colorful meals might not be what our Body needs to develop

I am a student and of course I stay in the hostel. Most of us here can agree that students have mad cravings, and consume fancy foods a lot.
Part of the things I spend on since I started school has been food and I eat based on my cravings and not what body actually needs to grow and develop at the moment.
Most of the stuff I eat are low in minerals, vitamins and overall nutrients that the body needs, that is why most times even if I'm filled to the brim, I still come up with digestive issues, iron deficiency issues most times. But if you ask me, I tell you I'm healthy but looking very unhealthy.

As a student Nurse , I have had many nutrition and dietetics classes, I have learnt how to sort out foods according to the body's needs and all that but definitely not practicing it rather feeding my cravings.

Feeding my cravings means spending too much for a portion on not even food but snacks because these junk foods are expensive. So there was this day I was low on cash and I was trying to manage my allowance and upkeep money. So part of the things I got were sweet potatoes and Irish potatoes. I boiled them with eggs and ate them with palm oil.
Trust me it was delicious, my brokenness influenced this meal but while eating it, I felt like blessing that day I didn't have money😂😂💔😂😂💔. Trust me, no one likes to be broke but then it happened that I had a shift in my brain concerning the way I eat oooo😂😂.

Eggs contain more protein than chicken, beef and eggs are really cheap. Potatoes are cheap as well. Part of my meal everyday was potatoes and eggs( boiled precisely.
This was my meal for a week spiced up with fruits, and I would always tell my friends that I have switched to team nature. This whole combo was quite Cheap. I didn't break my saving box and I got a more nutritious meal plan and looking quite healthy

So after this Whole saga, I have actually learnt how to eat Healthy and less expensive meals, very particular about my meal plan, avoiding too much Coz Less is more afterall. Note that Expensive meals are not bad, but I'm trying to place importance on eating healthy food rather than expensive junk foods. Truth be told, in recent times, there has been an alarming increase of cancer and other diseases related to toxic substances produced from processed food.

Asides Saving up more and having a budget for meals, I have been able to appreciate natural food the more. The next day , as I stepped out I saw this Bole Joint( roasted planted and fish) with Palm oil sauce, spices up with little veggies. With just a little money I got a whole meal, I was full and I became a fan😅. So tell me with all this Healthy food hacks why would I spend too much to eat as a student??

This has been part of a minimalistic practice on my Meals

Sort:

Most of the tastiest, yummiest and most expensive, show off and colorful meals might not be what our Body needs to develop.

These sentences are very true because outside food can be very harmful to our body and students who must roam around outside should cook their own food or eat family food to be more aware of the environment. Delicious food has a high chance of causing harm.

You seem to have figured out a way to eat well according to your budget, well done! That, however, does not mean minimalism.

If I may get your right

Firstly minimalism entails simplicity and reducing unnecessary things right??, it also focuses on what is only essential.
So I wrote about my experience on eating healthy, trying not to eat extravagantly and focusing on meals that are essential and saving cost isn't minimalistic??
