Minimalist feel in photography

As I see it in general terms, minimalism in simple words is having the essential, the most basic and simple for different purposes, and of course this can be applied in painting, architecture, film and photography, which is what I normally handle as art and craft in my day to day. Therefore, at certain times one adapts in perception to visualize those images that have their own beauty with many fewer elements in the composition, although it is not about there being nothing in the frame but rather capturing the simplicity of the images.

In this way, I try to expose with these photographs as a reference to what I am trying to say. Where minimalism is applied well in photography, because you can capture harmony in those simple images, without creating a complex language with respect to the composition or semiotics of the images, is being able to capture that essence of that moment or circumstance that does not need that same complexity that I mentioned above, at least that is how I see it.

This brings back memories of when I was much younger and just beginning to get to know the world of photography, and I used to try to impress with impressive images, even to the point of frustration because I didn't always find that magnificent composition, when in reality everything was before my eyes at all times and in every place I was, but it was because I wasn't that sensitive to the images I saw. Until one day I was able to understand what I said, when I began to detail everything I saw in my surroundings and at the same time I captured simple but beautiful images, in the sense of their composition and harmony.

Year after year I continued to understand that less is more, a simple sunset, simple silhouettes in movement or even a few shadows in certain scenarios can generate a great weight in the images in composition, it is also a bit of linking the shapes within the frame, in the same way as a painter could do on his canvas or an architect when designing an architectural building.

Nowadays, in part of my life I apply a bit of that simple life, I only have what is necessary, so as not to reach that extreme of consumerism that is not necessary, in the same way as it can be applied in photography. As we can see in the photographs that I show in this publication, where a few simple leaves in backlight can fit into the frame, as well as a bit of shadows as in some of the images or capturing a beautiful cat that maintains eye contact with the camera. In any case, minimalism is applied as part of our lives, it is a bit of feeling and some sentiment, it is also that gratification of perceiving the simple as something beautiful, comfortable in its encumbrance and satisfactory in the nature that we find ourselves in.

All photographs are my own.

Well said!

capturing a beautiful cat that maintains eye contact with the camera.

It sure did! I think the cat is a natural model who enjoyed the moment:)
