I think people need to understand the concept of slow living and then be able to differentiate from being lazy. If there is one thing I appreciate so well about life it’s the fact that we choose whatever happens to us. We make our fate and our path. That is the same way we choose between embracing slow living and fast-paced living.
Yes, most times we are overwhelmed with the things of life, work, school, and then even the various means in which we get to earn money. Most people are ready to drown themselves in work. It is okay to know that there are people who can survive in a fast-paced life while there are others who can not even survive for a split second.
It took me a while to realize that I couldn’t strive for a fast-paced lifestyle and that what I want is a slow life. I realized that I needed to embrace the world of simplicity and also get adequate relaxation time. This wasn’t so earlier. Before now I felt I was a Jack of all trades. Wherever you turn your head I am there. At a point, I felt like I didn’t have a life of my own and I was always working.
Well, I continued as I was of the mindset that if I wasn’t working then I would be considered a lazy girl and I wouldn’t have everything I wanted. Well, all this mentality changed when I fell ill. I was so sick that couldn’t even go to my classes or my part-time job. I couldn’t even continue writing on Hive as my body was weak. I realized that not only my body was affected but also psychologically and mentally I was also battling. I couldn’t do anything for a long time.
When I was on the verge of breaking down, I knew I needed to quit but then I thought they wouldn’t be able to find a replacement, well when I recovered and I was going to my part-time job to quit, I found out there was a replacement already. This taught me that I needed to take life slowly.
Taking life slowly has made me make time for relaxation, a time where I get to just take a walk and appreciate nature and everything it offers. Most days when I feel like my body doesn’t feel like doing anything I take a chill and rest. I try to tell myself that taking life slow and making time to rest and also time to work will help your mind work perfectly.
Some days when my body is weak and tired I do not force it to work as I know that I am not lazy but then I need time to relax. This way I get to live a life of simplicity and going on a slow pace, taking breaks where needed because it is important. Most times living life at a slow pace will help you tackle things better.
Living in a fast-paced life, you would just jump into situations without even having a rethink about the consequences. It is just like the saying “Slow and steady wins the race” Taking life a step at a time helped me a lot when I realized the importance of slow living. Whatever I think is not convenient for me I try not to engage in it. I do things because I want to not because I need to. Taking a break when needed is not laziness and the world needs to understand that.

The world today thinks you can only be productive when you're always busy, but that isn't the case, I've been a fool to this belief and it affected my health until I came to the realisation for a need to change and since then, just like you I've had a more fulfilling life.
You have said a lot, and I do agree with your point of view on taking things slow and steady. If someone sees me that way and calls me lazy, then i sure am because who am I trying to please? Lol. Look at the scene where you were ill and you were replaced. Imagine you didn't even have it in mind to quit? Geez. It would have been so scary.
I am glad I quit instead of breaking down again
Being productive is not just be being a workaholic. In fact, most workaholics are never productive. They are only busy doing nothing in particular. That's why I recommend and accept your view to this context.
Do what you can do. Do right thing at your own pace and live in peace. #fullstop
