Friday (21/2/2025), I arrived at the Baiturahman Grand Mosque earlier than usual. The Friday prayer schedule in Banda Aceh is at 12.52. Meanwhile, I arrived at the mosque around 12.00, after picking up my child from school.
Usually, I go to Friday prayers at 12.30 or before the first call to prayer sounds. Many Friday worshipers also come to the mosque around 12.30 or even after the first call to prayer.
That day, the weather was a little hot. The electric umbrellas in the courtyard of the mosque were all opened, on the left and right. Many visitors, especially women, chose to take shelter under the umbrellas. Since the electric umbrellas and ceramics were installed in the courtyard of the mosque, many visitors or the public have chosen the courtyard of the mosque as the best place to relax.
The Baiturahman Grand Mosque is indeed one of the most famous landmarks of Banda Aceh. In fact, the Baiturahman Grand Mosque is said to be one of the most beautiful mosques in Southeast Asia. Don't be surprised if many foreign tourists choose this mosque as one of their tourist destinations.
Well, because I came early to the mosque, I saw that the inside of the mosque was empty of worshipers. There were only one or two worshipers who happened to come early like me. They seemed to be reading the Quran, one of the highly recommended practices in religion.
Here are some pictures of the atmosphere at the Baiturahman Grand Mosque that I managed to capture.
