In medieval times Noale was built by the Tempesta nobles, avogari of the bishop of Treviso, on the Marzenego, at the intersection of the ancient roads that connected Treviso to Padua and Mestre to Camposampiero. The construction of the castle, defended by embankments and moats and by two fortified masonry gates, dates back to the 12th century. The construction of the fortress, in its present form, was started by Ezzelino da Romano in 1245 and completed by the members of the Tempesta family after his death.
