Game drives in the heart of Pretoria

Game drive in the heart Pretoria

Today, I want to share more about our lovely honeymoon—a spontaneous day out where we had no set plans but happened to stumble upon a beautiful nature reserve in the heart of Pretoria. We spent the day driving around, soaking in the peacefulness, and simply enjoying nature. It was one of those unplanned adventures that turned into an unforgettable experience.

To our surprise, this hidden gem was right in the middle of the city! The drive was scenic and calming, with the bushveld stretching out before us. In the distance, electricity poles stood tall, a reminder of how nature and urban life intertwine in unexpected ways.

We were fortunate enough to see some incredible animals along the way. I snapped a photo of a giraffe, it was quite a distance away sadly. Various bokkies also made an appearance, adding to the sense of wild beauty.

I cannot explain why but I loved the mess of these branches, like a bowl of spaghetti.

And then my favourite - this large cactus plant - I made my husband stop the car for me to snap a picture of it.

I love finding fun and random gems like this at the most unexpected times. We spent hours driving, chatting, and spotting flowers, birds, and animals before venturing off to find a fun new spot for lunch—it was the perfect day if you ask me!
