While walking last Sunday, I found a habitat where the damselfly group of the family Calopterygidae lives in abundance around the Saweuk river, Kutamakmur sub-district, North Aceh.
Commonly referred to by several names, such as demoiselles, jewelwings, and broad-winged, unlike most other species of damselfly, this damselfly has unique behavior. They do not perch on the bushes that grow along the edge of the Saweuk river, but on rocks sticking out in the middle of the river.
So, don't expect you to be able to shoot them just relying on your smartphone camera from the riverside, unless you have to go down there with the challenge of passing through a rather swift river current and quite slippery rocks.
Except for the black eyes, this damselfly's entire body is metallic green. The upper wings are jewel-blue green, with dark metallic green undersides, but some are copper-brown. It's the coolest kind of damselfly I've seen so far.
