Morning Mist at Kalemegdan | A Peaceful Autumn Walk

It's wonderful to talk to you again, dear photography lovers, it's been so long! Busy with work, I don't get the chance to come in here much, except to curate for a bit and see what you all are up to. I'm hoping to become more active again. This time I'm sharing photos from a walk I took recently - and what better place for some nice photos than the Kalemegdan park.

I woke up around 6 to a fog-covered landscape through the window and decided to take advantage of it, there's nothing like shooting in the fog, it's the photographer's dream. So I headed towards downtown and as I exited the bus the fog miraculously vanished - I was so disappointed, but I hoped it might still linger in the park. And luckily it was.

There’s a certain magic in the early morning at Kalemegdan Fortress. The world feels frozen in time, no outside noise reaches it, it's like a fairytale place that you reach through a hidden gateway. The familiar bustle of the city is replaced by a calm rhythm that only the early risers and their dogs experience.

I believe you can see through the pictures how the fog, rolling softly between the trees and the stone walls, adds a dreamlike quality to the scenery. I didn't have to make the photos look soft in the post-production, it was a natural side effect. Only the leaves, the trees and occasional figure of a dog or person stood out from the even, light background. Fading greens mingled with yellows and deep reds made for a perfect palette of autumn colors. In this place of great historical significance, surrounded by ancient walls, it made for some quite, intimate moments of peace before the world wakes up.

The few people I encountered (dog walkers mostly) strolled leisurely, their furry companions on the other hand running playfully among the fallen leaves. Occasionally, they would pause to chat with familiar faces, their voices hushed as if not to disturb the stillness. As the fog slowly started to lift and reveal the face of the city hidden behind, I was reluctant to leave. These peaceful mornings in nature are rare gift worth experiencing.

Parks and fog combine very well. There are so many great shots here, I can't decide on one in particular.

Thank you, I'm glad you enjoyed the photos! :)

WOW it looks like Silent Hill. :o The dog in the second photo looked like he knew what he was doing, posing for the camera 😂 And squirrel is also doing its morning jog lol. Beautiful photos :D

Animals really know their purpose and execute it diligently. 😂 The squirrel was all over the place, letting everyone know this is her kingdom haha. Glad you liked it!

Undoubtedly the fog gives that magical and mysterious touch to these photographs.

Indeed, glad you think so. :)

Yes, I missed your posts.
A photographer's dream, it's true. And that mist is so lovely because it's full of happiness. Dogs are lovely creatures that we always have to learn from.

Nice squirrel, that one did some misdeed that got away. 😂
