Hello dear friends,
I'm back after a not entirely voluntary break. Now, finally, a cold has slowed me down in my work, after I had got through the whole winter without this annoying impairment. But I also realise that my batteries are simply empty. I'm really looking forward to summer and lots of sunshine so that I can simply recharge my batteries. This is just one aspect that proves to me that I should get out of the house and into the beautiful countryside as often as possible..

Hallo liebe Freunde,
ich melde mich nach einer nicht ganz freiwilligen Pause zurück. Nun hat mich zu guter letzt doch noch eine Erklältung in meinem Wirken gebremst, nachdem ich durch den ganzen Winter ohne diese lästige Beeinträchtigung gekommen war. Aber ich merke auch, daß meine Akkus einfach leer sind. Ich freue mich wahnsinnig auf Sommer und viel Sonne, damit ich einfach wieder auftanken kann. Dies ist nur ein Aspekt, der mir wieder einmal beweist, daß ich so oft wie möglich raus aus den eigenen vier Wänden in die schöne Natur gehen solte.
At least it looks like we had the ice saints a little earlier this year. All in all, it was fortunately not as cold here in Franconia for as long as in 2023. I can compare it pretty well, as I went on a trip to the same destination with my children almost exactly a year ago to the day. Readers of my blog will know that we have several castles and palaces in the area. And last week we went on another adventure excursion with the children to Henneburg Castle of the little Bavarian town Stadtprozelten.

Wenigstens sieht es so aus, daß wir die Eisheiligen dieses Jahr etwas früher hatten. Insgesamt ist es hier in Franken zum Glück nicht so lange kalt geblieben wie 2023. Ich kann das ziemlich gut vergleichen, da ich fast auf den Tag genau vor einem Jahr mit meinem Kindern einen Ausflug ebenfalls mit dem Zielort "Henneburg" gemacht habe. Leser meines Blogs wissen, daß wir hier einige Burgen und Schlösser im Umkreis haben. Und letzte Woche ging es mit den Kindern wieder auf eine Abenteuerexkursion auf die Henneburg von Stadtprozelten.
Henneburg Castle has been extensively restored in recent years. If you are visiting the region and have some time to spare, you should definitely consider a trip to Henneburg Castle. You can park directly in front of the castle. And there is also a very large archery course behind the castle.

Die Henneburg wurde in den vergangenen Jahren ausgiebig restauriert. Wer hier in der Region mal vorbeikommt und etwas Zeit übrig hat, sollte ruhig auch einen Ausflug auf die Henneburg in Betracht ziehen. Man kann direkt vor der Burg parken. Und hinter der Burg ist zudem ein sehr großer Parcours für Bogenschützen.
However, anyone who suffers from a fear of heights should avoid this place. Everyone else will love the view over the Bavarian Stadtprozelten and Mondfeld on the other side of the Main river. The Main forms the natural border between the two southern German states of Bavaria and Baden-Württemberg.

Wer sehr unter Höhenangst leidet, sollte diesen Ort allerdings meiden. Allen anderen wird die Aussicht über das bayrische Stadtprozelten und Mondfeld auf der anderen Seite des Mains sehr gefallen. Der Main bildet die natürliche Grenze zwischen den beiden südlichen Bundesländern Deutschlands Bayern und Baden-Württemberg.
This year, the rapeseed fields were also really yellow by mid-April. Last year, you had to wait until May to see this beautiful sight. However, we have often had years in which it was already possible to swim in the quarry pond in April. That was out of the question this year, unless you're into ‘ice bathing’, which doesn't apply to me.

Auch die Rapsfelder waren dieses Jahr bereits Mitte April schon richtig schon gelb. Letztes Jahr musste man auf diesen immer wieder wunderschönen Anblick bis Mai warten. Allerdings hatten wir auch schon öfter Jahre, in denen brereits im April angenehmes Baden im Baggersee möglich war. Daran war dieses Jahr nicht zu denken, es sei denn, man steht auf "Eisbaden", was aber nicht auf mich zutrifft.
However, it has rained a lot. Lake Mondfeld is still very far over its usual banks at this time of year.

Geregnet hat es allerdings sehr viel. Der Mondfelder See ist immer noch sehr weit über seine sonst üblichen Ufer zu dieser Jahreszeit getreten.
But let's briefly return to the topic of our trip to Henneburg Castle. We always try to go on excursions to the castles in the neighbourhood. The children always have a lot of fun and get some fresh air in a ‘playful’ way. Many parents will be familiar with this. Today's entertainment electronics are very sophisticated and exert a magical attraction on most people, including young people. You have to come up with something so that young people don't spend the whole day on a smartphone, for example. My children don't have their own smartphone, but they still like to watch their favourite channels on YouTube and play games on the Switch, for example. Of course, the easiest thing would be to simply ban these things. But I don't believe in using force and violence to enforce things, no matter what they are. It's much better to convince the next generation that there are other things in life. Of course, I'm not saying that this is easy to achieve. I think other parents will also know what I mean by this.... . ;-)

Aber thematisch noch einmal kurz zurück zu unserem Ausflug auf die Henneburg. Ausflüge auf die Burgen, die hier in der Nähe sind, bauen wir immer wieder gerne in unser Leben ein. Die Kinder hatten immer viel Spaß dabei und kommen so auch "spielerisch" an die frische Luft. Viele Eltern werden es kennen. Die heutige Unterhaltungselektronik ist schon sehr ausgefeilt und übt eine magische Anziehung auf die meisten Menschen, also auch auf die Jugendlichen, aus. Man muß sich schon etwas einfallen lassen, damit die Jugendlichen nicht den ganzen Tag z.B. an einem Smartphone verbringen. Meine Kinder haben zwar kein eigenes Smartphone, aber sie gucken trotzdem gerne ihre Lieblingskanäle auf Youtube und zocken mit voller Energie z.B. auf der Switch. Es wäre natürlich das leichteste, einfach diese Dinge zu verbieten. Aber ich halte nichts davon, so etwas mit Zwang und Gewalt durchzusetzen. Viel besser ist es, den Nachwuchs davon zu überzeugen, daß es auch andere Dinge im Leben gibt. Ich sage aber nicht, daß dieses Unterfangen leicht ist. Ich denke, auch andere Eltern werden wissen, was ich hiermit meine.... . ;-)
