This is my entry in to the Beach Wednesday Photo contest organised by @uwelang.
Henley Lake
Last week I visited Masterton, in the North Island of New Zealand.
Masterton is a reasonably small town with large beautiful views.
My photos this week are of Henley Lake. It's a man made lake developed by a group of locals who became the Henley Lake Trust.
It's a lovely area for walking and is dog friendly.
Henley Lake is the home of many water birds. There's a large variety of different species in fact it's said to have the highest diversity of birds in the region. Swans, Canadian geese, Shags, Kingfishers, Mallards, Caspian Terns, Pukekos and Paradise Ducks, just to name a few, live there.
There are several different walking track available to wander and enjoy the fabulous views of the lake.
It's quiet place to walk or just chill out on the many seats, away from all the stresses of everyday life. I find water to be very calming and a great place to just catch your breath.
Events
They have several events here every year. In January they hold a Dragon Boat Festival and in March they have an International Hot Air Balloon Festival.
I haven't been to visit Henley Lake for a while now and it was lovely to wander there just after sunrise and enjoy the peace and quiet.
oh my gosh look at those mountains in the distance - and the water is like glass!!!
I love man-made lakes because they tend to be so well-maintained! hehehe except i guess no matter where you go - the bottom of lakes is always squishy on your feet - hahahaha i hate that LOLOL
i joined the beach wednesday - thanks to you!!! :) just posted hehehe
:) It really is!! There are a lot of dogs being walked so I got to chat with them as an added bonus lol
