My first Hive article: Old sandmine

in Photography Lovers5 months ago

Hello photographers,

First I want to tell something about myself. Don't worry, I'll share some photos afterwards ;)

I am a starting photographer who googled if it's possible to earn something while sharing photos. I've read about Hive and thus want to give it a go. In the worst case, I just loose some time if it wouldn't work out. I don't like to share too much personal information, so will rather share some pictures I made on a recent walk.

It's a local piece of nature which got recently transformed to a nature reserve. It used to be a tiny open air mine where white sand has been delved. As the firm stopped to dig up white sand, the place was abandoned for several years. As you know, nature will take back abandoned places. The local government figured it would be a good idea to preserve the nature in the special habitat and create a nature reserve.

As the white sand was taken away, a small lake had formed itself after the mine was abandoned. In the past neighbors sometimes went swimming in the lake although it was prohibited. Nowadays, there are several (water)birds which could be spot.

I heard that there were some steep shores created to attract several specific, rare birds which tend to create their nests on such steep shores. The future will show if the plan will work.

In the water live fishes as well. As it's a preserved piece of nature, people aren't allowed to go and fish there. But apparently you don't have to fish, to find them.

I enjoyed my walk and managed to get some great shots. Will probably get back here in the future as it's not too far and it's a great piece of nature.

Thank you very much for reading my first Hive post. Feel free to give me feedback, both in terms of Hive as in terms of my photography!
