Every Winter it is like a ritual for us bird watchers to go out to wetlands to welcome all the beautiful travellers migrating to warmer areas.
So in Delhi and surrounding NCR areas of INDIA we get to meet these beautiful birds who make these areas their homes for winters.
I live in Greater Noida which is around 50 kms from Delhi, and we have this beautiful place Surajpur Bird Sanctuary. We get to see many different species like Bar Headed Geese, Grey Lag Geese, Northern shoveler, Northern Pintail etc. keeping a track of number of different species we get to see in these areas. What kind of numbers we see there is a task we undertake at an individual level.
Bar Headed Geese is one of my favorite birds, they fly high and long to reach to warmer areas.
Some hikers have seen these geese flying from over the Mt. Everest. Imagine how strong and agile these birds must be, flying at an altitude where oxygen is very low.
They achieve these long distance utilising the aerodynamics by flying in different formations so that they don't get tired. If you ever get a chance to look at hundreds of these birds flying in the sky. Surroundings fill with their loud calls, It looks like a gorgeous and nature air show.
Now, Let me share something about these images. I tried clicking these birds in flight but with a slow shutter speed so that we get to see movement of their wings as they fly in formation.
These images were shot on Canon 90D with a Tamron 18-400mm lens.
