It's soooo hard to come back to blogging! I never know what to do after a break - excuse myself or just continue as if nothing had happened.
I didn't have many fascinating travel experiences in February and March, and the weather or the workload would be just an excuse - everything was about my head. My walks were infrequent and hardly revealing. I didn't feel like inventing new routes. Perhaps it's because I plan a big change in the next future and it overwhelms me a little. I wonder every day if I can manage that. Well, the only way to know is to do it. Scary ;)
In the meantime, I'll try to come back to some routine. Let's start with something easy and comfortable... Let's go for an evening walk around Krakow's Old Town. Once again 😉.
I know this route so well, that I don't have to overload my brain. I turn on autopilot and can relax.
I start in the Planty, the park that surrounds the core of the old town. Once there was a fortified wall with towers. It was almost completely deconstructed in the XIX century. That time the Juliusz Słowacki Theatre was built. The neo-Baroque, richly decorated building is beautiful, but not to my taste.
I am more fond of the only surviving section of the defensive wall and its Gothic towers.
The Florian's Gate once guarded the entrance to the city.

There is a big inhale every time I enter the iconic Main Square.
--
St Mary's Basilic. On the left, above the tenements, you can barely see Venus and Jupiter. They were visible even though I took pictures with my phone.
--
A small, almost 1000 years old St Adalbert's Church keeps an eye on Grodzka Street.
--
A glance from under the Cloth Hall's arcades at the St Mary's basilica.
Souvenirs from Krakow are waiting for the last customers. Ever since I was a child, I have been stopping by stalls with amber jewelery.

Under the arcade - their harmony is so soothing.
My last stop - a town hall tower.
Every time I'm here, I think about what it was like hundreds of years ago. Now the Main Market is like an elegant open-air museum, once real life has happened here. It was a real mess - wooden stalls, carts with agricultural products, small sellers - bustle, crowds, and various smells 😉 It's funny to imagine that.
It's finally real spring in Krakow (the beginnings were cold and unpleasant), so I hope the further posts will be greener :) And April is much more intensive when it comes to traveling or walking. I've been on a few trips, so I hope to post more often; I just need a moment to sort out the photos. I have really missed writing here immensely.
See you soon 🍀
I loved to wander around the Krakow center at night, the ancient buildings are so nicely lit up :) I miss those walks...
