Hello,
I am Ayşegül from Istanbul, Turkey's most populous city. I am a textile engineer and have been working in the textile industry for 32 years.
It will be a pleasure for me to share my travel experiences and photographs with you.
Chichen Itza, the second most visited place in Mexico, where I stayed for 15 days in November…
"Chichen Itza" is a Maya ancient city located in Mexico's Yucatan peninsula, between Valladolid and Merida, 40 km from the city of Valladolid. It's an amazing place, you should definitely visit it if you have a chance.
For Chichen Itza, one of the seven wonders of the world, you should spare at least half a day. You can even spend a full day if you have plenty of time. The entrance fee is around $26 per person.
There are many historical buildings in this ancient Maya city, which was founded in the pre-Columbian era.
The most important and best known of these is the pyramid of Kukuul Kaan, known as El Castillo (castle). As if to reveal their knowledge of astronomy and mathematics, the Mayans built this 4-sided symmetrical pyramid with 91 steps, 91x4 = 364, and with the top floor completed it to 365.
'El Caracol' is also one of the other popular buildings in Chicken Itza. This place was used as an observatory.
Also in the area:
- The temple of the high priest.
- Temple of Warriors.
- Ball game court.
- The administration palace, which was called the "convent of nuns" by the Spaniards.
- There is a group of “old Chichen” structures that includes various temples… is located.
This magnificent archaeological site also had a connection with other ancient cities. For example, it was connected to the ancient city of Kobe by an old road of 100 km.
In this archaeological site, which is spread over a fairly large area, there are also 2 cenotes inside. (I will talk about cenotes in detail in another article. Cenote is a natural pit or sinkhole, resulting from the collapse of limestone bedrock that exposes groundwater.)
When we reached the top, we had a wide field of view.
Inside the area, there are many stalls and Mexicans selling souvenirs. The prices are inflated, make sure to bargain.
While you're here, don't forget to visit the Ik-Kill Cenote, which is very close (3-5 km away).
Best Regards,
Aysegul the Traveler
TURKISH VERSION
Herkese Merhaba,
I can’t wait to visit this place. It looks so cool.
Happy to hear that :)
Estimated @aysegultravel, may I suggest that you edit the title of the post? I loved the post, it has amazing, cute pictures, however, the name of the place is Chichén Itzá. Maybe you use a corrector and it did it automatically. :) Regards, happy new year!
Thank you for the advice. I corrected the title.

I was staying in Cancun in 2006 and had the chance to visit Chitzen Itza. It's a strange feeling being able to visit a place you have seen in photos and read about, but just never expected to see.
Good memories so thank you for sharing :)
