Halloween Theme Winners!
Last week the theme was Halloween. It was the first contest here in the Photography Lovers Community and things didn't go as smooth as I had hoped. Hopefully now that I am posting the contests from a more visible account, we will get more interaction and submissions for the contest.
We only had two entries for the contest last week, but they were pretty cool. Both submissions will each receive 10 Hive for participating in the contest, since there is no point in just giving them a small portion of the contest reward pool.
Professional First Place @bil.prag
Amateur First Place @mballesteros
New Theme - Animals
This week should be a lot easier for everyone to take part in. Animals are always fun to take pictures of, but to create a great photo, you will need to get creative.
So let's see your best shots of animals. They can be your pets or wild animals. Sorry insect lovers, this theme does not include bugs, so make sure to enter the correct photo to be eligible.
How is the Photography Lovers Contest set up?
The contest is broken up into 2 different tiers. Each will have a different rewards for the winners based on what tier you enter into.
Here is a breakdown of the rewards based on the tiers:
Place | Professional | Amateur |
---|---|---|
1st | 5 Hive | 4 Hive |
2nd | 3 Hive | 2 Hive |
3rd | 2 Hive | 1 Hive |
Each contest will be open for submissions for 6 days and close on the 7th day so that winners can be picked and the new post can be made.
There will be a new theme announced each week and the themes are going to be a bit different than the traditional themes. The goal of the themes are to challenge your skill as a photographer and force you to think outside the box to get some really interesting photos.
How to enter
When you enter a photo in the competition, you will state what tier you want to be judged in and locked in for the month at that level.
For example if you enter a photo, you drop the photo in the comment section, state what level of photographer you are, and then give a description of the photograph.
That's pretty much it, drop your main photo in the comment section of this post and state your tier. If you want to make a separate post for your entry as well, that is fine, but for your entry to be valid, your photo and tier must be in here in the comment section of this post. You are also encouraged to join the Photography Lovers Community and make your post to the Photography Lovers Community.
Additional Notes
If your post has more than one photo in it, make sure to use the photo you wanted judged as your main photo for your post.
Only one submission per contest. Extra submissions will be ignored.
You can switch your tier ONE time per month, but only if you are moving up into a higher tier, for example if you are currently in the amateur tier, but you think that you have a photograph that you want to enter in the professional tier, you can state that you are changing your tier to professional. You will then be locked into the new tier for the remainder of the month. You are not able to move down to a lower tier, like going from amateur to the beginner tier.
If you do not state which tier you want to be judged in for the month, I will leave a comment to remind you to do so, but if you don't respond, you will be assigned to a tier and locked in for that month.
Plagiarism will not be tolerated in any form. All submissions must be your own work. I will investigate every entry and if you are caught plagiarizing, you will be blacklisted from competing in my competitions and blacklisted in the community.
Thank you!
Thank you for being a part of the Photography Lovers Community here on Hive. We are looking forward to seeing your entry for this contest.

Wow what a start! Astonishing photo!
Let the fireworks begin :)
Haha she didn't like fireworks that much :p But thanks :D
Such a cool shot. Thanks for sharing. For your entry to be valid tho, you need to state what tier you are going to be in.

This was Iggy, my little Poodle dog who was born in my house 11 years ago. It seems like only yesterday that I had the wonderful opportunity to help my little dog while she was giving birth to her 8 little dogs. I received them at birth and cleaned them, then I made sure they all ate because my dog only had 6 nipples. I had to be careful when my dog was nursing to make sure that the dogs took turns, so that everyone had the opportunity to eat. It was really a wonderful experience, after 40 days, we gave 7 of the 8 dogs up for adoption to family and friends. Unfortunately, we could not keep them all, because we already had their parents at home. After we agreed at home, we finally decided to keep the nice and beautiful Iggy, his chocolate color made us fall in love.
Aww! que linda tu mascotita Francys💜
Esta muy bien la foto a pesar del tiempo.
Such a cutie :D

When I visited the Galapagos Islands my main motivation was to see animals in their habitat but I never imagined that the relationship they have with humans is so close, most of them do not fear us and welcome us to their beaches like this, without any importance hehehe, I loved these sea lions!
Very nice! I love sea lions!
Thank you! :)
When you have too many pictures is almost as hard to choose as if you had none! Anyway I chose one of my late dog that although he is not next to me any more, he keeps appearing in my blog :)
I think I have never used this one for a contest before.
Professional,I guess!
He doesn't seem very happy with the camera en front of him! 😁

My submission for this week is this little mouse that posed for the camera I installed for 'shooting' birds. Amateur tier.
Some really great entries this week.

I participate in the Amateur category.
The story of how I captured this photo of a hummingbird is the following, this bird hit a window and fell to the ground dizzy, my cat was close to hunting it when my brother jumped to his rescue and we kept him inside for a while our house until it recovered from the impact against the window, then just before releasing it this beautiful specimen of bird was paralyzed for a few moments just before flying and then I captured this photo, with a small impulse it flew away again.
So glad I stumbled in the contest post! here goes my entry:

Tier: amateur
This is my entry for the Amateur Tier of the Photography Lovers Community contest with the theme of "Animals".
The rare and adorable little creature shown on my featured photo is called a TARSIER, a small primate (about 85 to 160 mm/3.35 to 6.30 inches in height) that's found on the island of Bohol in the Philippines. It's a shy, solitary, and nocturnal animal that hides in the forest, and is currently an endangered species.
Lucky, I have always wanted to see one of these in person. They are such weirdly cute little animals.
Thank you! I'm glad you found these animals attractive with their unusual cuteness.

Congratulations to the winners.
Halloween was a bit difficult, but I'll join in this week!
I've also added the new subject to my 'photography contest overview blog' to attract some more photographers 😊
What a great idea! once I made a post with this photo, because I really love it for the natural combination of colors that was given at the time of taking the picture, and the lizards are one of my favorite animals, their colors and eccentric shapes are one of the things that most calls my attention to these beautiful animals, this particular photograph is one of those that has those beautiful colors, his agility makes them difficult to photograph, but he wanted to pose for me and this was the result

I present to you my cat Jodie, she is about 6 years old with me and we rescued her from the street ♥
He is very happy at home now and is always on the couch, so taking a few photos of him is not complicated.
He likes to sunbathe, and I always seek to make the most of that moment.

😁 good luck for judging this one @derangedvisions ! I've just scrolled through all the submissions and I've heard myself singing a concert of Awwww 🤗... and OoooHHH😍 and I would like to be by no means in your place 😁
This is my rayi (ray of light) She died last year, I rescued her from la guaira, but she rescued me from sadness. I have this picture to remember her, because she was such a godd parner than every day I have somethig about her to remember. I used to talk a lot with her, and I´m sure she understood me very well. But sometimes humans are not smarter than they supossed to be, and sometimes I did not understand her answers.

The Galapagos, Ecuador are filled with all sorts of wildlife animals. They are protected and therefore have no reason to fear man, so we can approach them without them being afraid. Here we can admire a beautiful heron on Dragon Hill island.

Thanks to @crazy-andy I found this challenge. As a diver I choose for marine life. Not many people have the chance to see this animals up close and personal. So I want to share the underwater beauty with you Hivers. This little cutie is a shrimp goby.
I consider myself as an amateur photographer :)
She is Sasha. She is very difficult to photograph, because of her tender age. Very active. It was strange that when I stood facing her height she didn't jump on me. AMATEUR
Wow! What a lot of cool submissions for this contest!
I see that the blog for this round is already expired.
When will the winners and the subject of the next round be published @derangedvisions ?
Oh I'm sorry I missed it, well maybe I'm on time so I'll participate anyway.
I leave you my unedited photograph, I like photos in their natural essence and it's of a little animal that left me confused.
It could be a fly or a dragonfly, I don't know.
Thanks for this contest and I define myself as a basic or beginner participant, because that's what I am, a lover of photography without preparation.
It was the image was captured with my Huawei 8s Honor cell phone camera. Thank you @Photography Lovers @derangedvisions
