It's not often, but sometimes I borrow a camera and play around with it; I'll get my own one day I suppose but considering there's one available that doesn't get a lot of use I figure I'll save the money and put the existing one to some use even though I don't really know what I'm doing with it.
On this occasion, not too long ago, I put the camera together with one of my relaxation methods, coloring in, and took some photographs of some colored pencils.
I have had a few lessons on the camera from someone who tells me he's not very good at taking photographs but he knew where the on button was and that's more than I knew to start with so it was an auspicious beginning. He tried to explain some of the features, and even did a reasonable job at it, and before long I was able to create a photograph; it was enough for me and I began to enjoy the process of setting up and taking photos.
Much of what I do doesn't work out but every now and then I look at a photo and think it looks ok which is why these two have ended up being published here.
There's a saying, fake it until you make it, and that can work sometimes but what exactly is "making it?" Isn't it enough to sometimes just find enjoyment rather than having to be the best at something? I think it is. So many people seem to want to impress others, gain their validation, but rather than faking it to achieve it I'd rather be myself and find true enjoyment from the things I do.
I like your photos. It is interesting to see close up the different angles in the wood where the one is hand sharpened.
I don't have a super nice camera. I have a camera, but once I got my smart phone, I rarely take he real camera out anymore. I know it is not the same. Even with my phone camera, once in a while a pretty good shot comes across. I take more than one photo of everything and hope for the best. LOL ! Who knew before my smart phone, that I would take a photo of something nearly every day?? Not me.
You did end up with some nice macro photos here.
Thank you, I like playing around with the camera from time to time and I have many failures that I'll never show anywhere, but I also like the surprise of getting a photograph that looks ok as well. If only I could remember what I did for that photo so I could do it again. Oh well.
Smart phones really take some nice photos now, I think good enough for most people not to need an actual camera.
Thanks again.

Enjoying the process is what makes an activity interesting, improving or learning. I like the idea of photography mixed with art, I like it a lot and the second picture is great, I can apprehend the texture of the wood of the pencil very close, I love that!
Hugs Becca💗
I like that the camera shows that wood grain in the photo too, incredible how detailed it is.

It is!💗
