My Love for Photography
Welcome to my inaugural entry into a photo blog.
I long aspired to secure myself a career in travel photography and, well, life had other plans.
My camera began to find itself being slowly set aside in favor of other obligations and before I knew it, the days & moons had passed me by without so much as thinking of by beloved pastime.
On the heels of my recent conversation with @azircon and @fatjimmy, over on our most recent episode of the People's Guild podcast, I am inspired.
I will challenge myself to dust off my beloved camera and get out to shoot more often.
And to share the experience here.
Home
Taiwan has been my home, off and on, for most of the last 14 years. I've lived predominately in the south (Tainan) but upon my most recent return to Formosa, I spent a couple of years in the country's capital up north, Taipei.
An incredibly photogenic city, Taipei quickly grabbed me and whispered explore.
So began the last of my most recent love affair with photography.
A new city, steeped in culture and history and dichotomy and nature, served a photographer's dream.
Presented in this entry is a series of photographs that I took from my kitchen - you can see the precise location of my lofted abode here
I will share other photos of my life and journey throughout this magical country I now call home, but this seemed a fitting first post.
These photos represent my return to Formosa.
I hope you enjoy the incredible view I had of this great city, sitting high above the Taipei basin.

Those are amazing! The first one looks like an illusion due to the incredible lighting - at first glance I thought it was AI generated, a shot out of a sci-fi fantasy future world lol! Absolutely incredible!!

Taipei has a mostly wet & cloudy climate, so days like this look & feel just like that - glorious. Minimal editing on any of these, too. Cheers Jimmy! And yea man! Lookin forward to the FJ tales from the road blog posts !

Thanks @wilfredocav! The magnificent sunrise is a particularly elusive one in Taipei thanks to its geography (most often too cloudy to get anything spectacular) but I am really happy with these shots
