I live in a big city... "and that takes up all my time," to paraphrase a famous saying. It may sound like a compliment or an arrogance when I talk about my big city, but it's not. That's not my ideal size. For me, a city I would like to live in is one where I can see its edges, even when I'm on the roof of a two-story house.
An even greater ideal would be if the city were surrounded by hills that I could see from anywhere, even from the center.
But, most of all I would like to see the sunrise and sunset from the terrace of my house...
Unfortunately, none of this happens in the big city where I live, otherwise a city more interesting than beautiful and which I love!
In a big city, there is no horizon. The horizon stops at the buildings in front, behind, and to the sides.
However, this can sometimes be overcome, especially when you walk in the park.
Yesterday I had to cross a young park in the center of Bucharest. Izvor Park has a somber history because it is arranged in a place where there is an old and beautiful neighborhood.
The Uranus neighborhood was demolished in the late 1970s to make way for the construction of the People's House, a megalomaniac wish of the former communist dictator N. Ceausescu. It was a special neighborhood because it was the only one located on a slightly uneven site, with several heights that made the streets sloping, something unique in a city on an almost exclusively flat surface.
This makes the park young, with many slender trees spread over a large area, with some distance between them.
Necessity made me cross this park at dusk, exactly at the "hour of the wolf" when day and night mix.
I received a wonderful prize on this occasion!
A sunset projected over the sky and clouds. The sun was no longer visible.
It was a surprise I wasn't expecting and, of course, I didn't have a camera with me, although when I left home I had intended to take the camera with me, not thinking it would be a sunset.
I was thinking of photographing the monster in that place, the huge People's House, now transformed into the Romanian Parliament.
Rescue comes from the friend in the pocket who never leaves.
The smartphone!
Many people are unhappy with this gadget because it is too intrusive in our lives and can sometimes be dangerous, but in my opinion, if we are careful enough, the good parts of it far outweigh the drawbacks.
The smartphone helped me to capture some wonderful images of the sunset, as seen from that rather vast place in the city center. A place that allowed my eyes to go far enough to say I could see a skyline.
Now I don't know if those wonderful images will turn into good photos, but at least I will have a memory of that moment.
I have to admit that the result was not exactly what I wanted and you can see that the lens, the lenses are not of the best quality, and this, combined with my amateurism, made these photos appear.
I have the feeling that I was lucky enough to be close to a special moment that I couldn't or didn't know how to capture properly.
If I started with one saying, now I will finish with another:
That's all that was possible!
I rely mostly on photos in all my blogs. Words don't help me as much as photos.
I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that then turn into words. When I post in Photography Lovers the words have even less importance, they are a companion to the photos I want to show. This often makes the story uninteresting or common, yet it is necessary; otherwise, the photos would merely be a series of unexciting images.
I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to over-judge the text and to focus on the photos. The story puts everything in context and provides the explanations and clarifications necessary for the blog to convey something of interest to the reader.
Since we all love photography, let’s explore the captivating details captured in these photos.!
A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so.
It depends on the viewer. Just a friendly heads-up: I'm keeping an eye on you!
The color of the sky is amazingly beautiful♥️💥
Thank you!
Thank you!
I can assure you that if they became good photographs, I can't believe my eyes, what colours for God's sake!
The hour of the wolf... interesting way to describe it, it's a beautiful city, yes it is, it has incredible landscapes in that park and those colours... left me with my mouth open... I love it!😍
Thanks!
The hour of the wolf is the time of day when most suicides happen. I know that from a Scandinavian movie.
Now I understand...
And the pictures are super super good... I reiterate!
I reiterate too... Thank you!
In a big city, such as Istanbul, it is not easy to see the horizon because of buildings amd skyscrappers, which make life difficult from a point.
I can imagine what it's like.
