This Time I'm Not The Only One

I remember the times long ago when I was ashamed to take out my camera and use it when I was among people, in the street, or in a park. I am referring to the times when photography was not as common as it is today.

Money was scarce and cameras were rare and expensive, and everything involved in getting an image from the front of the camera onto photographic paper was laborious and expensive.

Thus, walking with a camera in your hand on the street, among people, aroused some interest and attention. I felt shy and embarrassed when I found myself in this situation...

I still have this feeling now, even though I have some experience and seniority in this activity.

I feel the same way I felt the first time I went to the nude beach, I felt like everyone was looking at me. They weren't, nobody was interested in me, but I realized that much later.

All these memories and feelings were triggered when I was walking through my favorite little park, Circus Park in Bucharest, the place where I like to walk and photograph.

I saw a young photographer looking for and finding enough places and things to photograph, with his attention focused on the chosen subjects and without noticing the people around him. So a sure victim of my camera, because I couldn't miss such an opportunity.

I play crazy and interesting but I'm just an amateur photographer who is impressed when he sees a more applied photographer with better equipment. I don't even have a bag for my camera, I carry it in a backpack.

I don't have such postures when I photograph, not so much because of my old bones but because of the embarrassment I mentioned above. Otherwise, I know these specific poses are seen in movies and documentaries about photographers.

I was happy to see another photographer in the park, as further proof that my favorite place is indeed sought after for beauty worth sharing.

This time I'm not the only one!

Not only was I not the only one who photographed that day but I think I photographed more than my colleague, who I don't think noticed and photographed me.

When I saw this man looking for the best places to capture great images I had an idea. I thought of trying to photograph the same places myself. So below are a few photos taken by observing where the lens of this colleague's or my competitor's camera was pointed.

I said above that I think the other one didn't notice me but I think I was wrong. He definitely saw me, but we ignored each other. Now I'm sorry I didn't ask him where I could see his photos. I have a hunch they're very good!

I rely mostly on photos in all my blogs. Words don't help me as much as photos.

I always start with photos when I want to write a blog. Photos remind me of places, events, and feelings that then turn into words. When I post in Photography Lovers the words have even less importance, they are a companion to the photos I want to show. This often makes the story uninteresting or common, yet it is necessary; otherwise, the photos would merely be a series of unexciting images.

I make this statement as a plea to those reading not to over-judge the text and to focus on the photos. The story puts everything in context and provides the explanations and clarifications necessary for the blog to convey something of interest to the reader.

Since we all love photography, let’s explore the captivating details captured in these photos.!

A wise saying goes that a photograph is worth a thousand words, but I don't think so.

It depends on the viewer.

Just a friendly heads-up: I'm keeping an eye on you!

A simple camera was so special and photos taken by it had much more meaning back then.

I remember the past and yes, you are right.

Manually curated by ewkaw from the @qurator Team. Keep up the good work!

Thank you! It is the most pleasant encouragement.

Someone told me some time ago that today we are all photographers and I said to myself how is that .... for me a photographer is the one who has a camera, not the one who takes pictures with the phone but it seems that we are not the only ones now everybody takes pictures. And yours are great by the way, this one is my favourite!

Thanks!
I also said the same thing in a recent post. Everyone takes photos but not everyone is a photographer, not because of the equipment, what matters is sensitivity, a penchant for beauty, knowledge of visual art, etc.

It's true that I often take pictures without thinking, but I forget that I studied painting and that helps a lot. Then I get a photo highlighted... and I don't even realise what I've done.

Beautiful photos, thank you for showing them.

With pleasure, I thank you and I'm glad you like them.

the attractive colors of the leaves shine through in the reflection of the pool, a great shot👍
