SM Street is the historic and buzzing location in Calicut - a city in the southern Indian State of Kerala.
This photo is from this sunday when the market is buzzing with activity. Some of the shops are closed but there are street vendors replacing those shops. And yes, majority of the fixed/permanent shops are open too.
The place really looks, crowded sir 😮
Yes ! And on a Sunday with atleast 10% of the shops closed …
How are the covid situations are there now, i heard that it is coming again is it right on kerla ?
Covid death rates were lowest in Kerala and never had issues with hospitals being full etc. The total number of infections didn't peak at all. Right now the rate is close to 1000 infections per day or so. Unless there is a third wave, I think this is going to go lower.
Active cases are going down

It's really crowded just like any other Indian market place. On occassions like Diwali these places are like Kumbh Mela. Isn't it?
Not as crowded as Kumbh Mela.
But for a city in Kerala it’s very very crowded. Generally the kerala markets are not this buzzing. This street is peculiar too - all traffic is banned and not even bi-cycles are there. The streets are now paved there are “ornamental” street lamps. These changes happened recently. At the entrance of the street there is the statue of a novelist who wrote about the street and he is looking down the street. May be I am little too attached to this city and street :-)
