Today I drove about forty kilometers north of where I live, stopped by the road that leads to the town called Svetvinchenat ...
... and continued walking along the narrow path that leads through the woods.
I spent an hour there ...
... surrounded by colorful trees.
The woods look great these days. Each ordinary autumn day feels like a celebration ...
... and the changing foliage is the star of the show.
Things are colorful. The details and colors are varied and kind of unpredictable.
When I think that I saw it all and the patterns start to feel old and repetitive ...
... something new pops out ...
... and catches my attention.
At one point the path before me looked like a tunnel that leads to another dimension, or some fantasy kingdom.
The day was cloudy. Gray, sleepy and dull. Especially in the city. But the forest was another world. A fantasy one - or something very close to that.
The abundant presence of green in some areas nicely accentuated the colors of the fall.
Small tree saplings were coloring the ground level ...

... while turning from green to red, yellow, or brown.

After this walk through the woods, I sat in my car and drove away.

When, five minutes later, I arrived in the nearby town of Svetvinchenat, the sunlight started to shine from the cracks in the layer of clouds ...

... making things even more vivid and colorful.
I walk through the alley that leads to the old castle ...
... again surrounded by colorful trees.
Both sides of the road were paved with a layer of fallen leaves.
It was a joyful, rustling surface ...
... so I left the asphalt for the cars.
Halfway to the castle ...
... among the tall trees with large, rounded leaves ...
... colored in shades of intense yellow ...
... I came across a small tree ...

... and some red structures that look like fruits or an amalgamation of seeds.
It was a nice morning excursion in the inland of this peninsula on which I live, and now I'm back home, in my seaside town ...

Yes, here just started. Only at the end of this month, the tree will have the winter look. Some of the trees, at least.
A perfect mid-autumn day's journey ... just perfectly lovely! Autumn and winter are my favorite two seasons, but autumn is fighting for the crown alone, and this post is a great argument for why it should win!

Je. Jesen je spektakl gdje god ima bjelogoričnog drveća i grmlja. Kod mene uz more je sve dosta zimzeleno pa jesen nije ništa posebno. Srećom ne moram puno voziti do raskošne jeseni. Dvadesetak - tridesetak kilometara je dovoljno.
