RE: COMMUNITY RULES UPDATE for PHOTOGRAPHY LOVERS

in Photography Lovers2 years ago

I mentioned a bit of the story in a comment above about the devs and witnesses that are now most of who runs curation operations here at HIVE. Yes, OCD is primarily who i curate for and this community is in the Incubation Program. I'm not exactly sure if or who/how they were affected, since there are many.

So, the community can curate for whichever posts we want individually or like in the Hotshots posts. But to be nominated for OCD takes certain measures of curation scrutiny.

Most of the measures are to keep rewards to under-rewarded users, newer accounts growing, and limit abuse etc. Keeping up with it all is a pain in the balls.
The thing about keeping up with the blurters and steemians is to go over and check when they were active last and look over at that stuff. They might have not been active last time i nommed them and then became active again later or vice-versa.

For me, it's best to just focus on Hive and have people in this community that want to do the same. The time and/or effort over on those places isn't worth the rewards unless they were pretty well vested before the theft. I would love to just have an army of bots over there just funneling shitpost rewards over here into the HIVE ecosystem but i'm not skilled enough for that. I don't know many people that swap Steem for Hive. I am now curious to know how much of their rewards shift to the Hive ecosystem.

I saw the signs of these no-steem, no-blurt requirements coming somewhere in the middle of the last year so I dropped them other BCs all. Logged a couple of times just to withdraw. To answer your last question, I have fully converted all my STEEM to HIVE. Twice. The first time was after the split and the second, gradually, started last year summer. Not the best thing to do from financial perspective as my country is the poorest in EU and every cent really matters. Just to note that up to that point I have never powered down. I fully understand and share all the concerns that @hornet-on-tour speaks about. For instance, my photo equipment costs much more than the total amount I've ever "made" on all of them chains. I believe I generally provide good stuff here and I always post my best photos, accompanied by my own text, thoughts, reflections. To be honest, I haven't seen any spark of increased support since I "killed" my activities on the other blockchains. Moreover, I wasn't posting the same stuff, a.k.a. cross-posting, but instead, every post I publish on HIVE is exclusive.
Don't get me wrong, I am not complaining at all, at least I am not getting any big downvotes and from all I see, that's around the corner.
I have accepted long time ago that sometimes people just "tick" on different frequencies, or have different energies, or just don't like each other, or just come from different planets. Call it whatever you like, it's the same thing. Sooner or later we all find our homes, right...
Just needed to put that out. Nothing will change and it is sad to see we are more and more absorbing the negatives from the real world, with all the wars and natural disasters happening lately. People keep disconnecting more and more... HIVE can be much better than that, I am 100% sure.
Cheers!

I'm glad to see your comments. I almost missed it. Behind the curation scenes, this has been an ongoing discussion and to some degrees a debate. There were compromises made to get to this point. I won't downvote people here on Hive just because they may or may not be active on other chains, unless it's for a specific person and reason.

For a while some people were being curated so long as they had separate content on say Steem vs Hive. So, like you said how you actually put in the extra effort to accommodate both sides by not crossing the double-dip line to just post the same content here and there. I respect that. It is the extra effort you were putting in to do that... that i as a curator have to do at like a 100000x level.

I also understand that every cent counts due to economic situations for many all over the world. That's why i never made a move like this until now. I could have made my life much easier a very long time ago... but i don't like limiting options.

From what i saw, you haven't posted into the Photography Lovers Community in a long time and it's been pretty sparse for quite some time. That's not a criticism, but to speak to your lack of more curation or support on HIVE. You seem to post in B&W, Photographic Society,Photofeed, and Stock Images mostly.

None of those communities are in the OCD Incubation program, but those are all the 'Handful of Hive Quality Level' alternate photography group options for the people who want to stay active on Steem and Blurt that i vicariously mentioned in the post. I'm not active in those communities so i don't know the engagement, posting count, and reward stats to know how their metrics look.

I curate for OCD and Photography Lovers Community. I can nominate posts in this community, but not from those others. We don't curate cross posts and we also have for OCD curation a guideline that a user cannot already be over rewarded. That is a bit vague at times... but you have a high reputation and if you have some other high paying posts at the same time.... the voters for OCD might decide to not upvote at that time. But this is just one factor to maybe why you haven't seen an uptick since focusing on HIVE.

If i am not mistaken, and i very well could be, i think you might have been one of the first Light Painters or Long Exposure photographers that i came across on here back in the day.
Thanks for sharing your thoughts and chiming in!

Hey, I am glad too, that you've responded to my comment.

I really hate to have brough the "financial" part of that as if you check my first posts on the legacy chain, you'll see that it took more than an year before I got a post with two-digits rewards, hehehe. So trust me when I share that I've built my reputation with persistent and consistent efforts and investing a lot of time and resources.

Let me be perfectly honest with regards to "Photography Lovers".

I prefer my works to be appreciated by people who genuinely like what I do and share here. You realize that people come and sometimes dump a large amount of photos here just hoping to get a fat OCD vote. Nothing wrong with that but I actually cannot compete with that volume. My photos are not so many 'cause I spend more time creating each one of them. Also, I support some people who post mostly in PL and I get support by people who post mostly in PL ;)

The second reason I don't post in PL anymore is that I've been featured many times in your curation posts but rarely been given a vote. Those were not trending nor hot/highly rewarded posts. I am certain it wasn't the rewards though. I can't say why and I don't know what's going under the hood, probably too much work for you as a single curator, but from my perspective this felt not quite pleasant. Also, there is a risk at some point my posts to be muted and the photos hidden. Speaking from my own experience; to be muted with no reason and explanation, no breaking any rules and trying to put up my best... is a bit insulting, right... I hope you understand my concerns.

Well, I can't speak on behalf of the moderators of those communities but I bet that label isn't correct and some of them wouldn't be happy to read that. As I noted that I am no longer active on the other chains, I am not aware if they do anything there either. For instance, I post in the B&W community as B&W is a passion of mine and I appreciate the support I get in that community as well.

I can only speak about "Photographic Society" that I created so people who like to discuss the aspects of Photography like concepts, techniques, equipment, news, photogenic places, etc. have a place to do that, as PL is more about sharing photos. There was a suggestion to apply for OCD incubation but now seeing you consider it "alternate photography group" I guess probably that would be a waste of time. Moreover, I am a modest introverted guy and begging for money isn't my thing.

Thank you for everything! I rarely do Light-painting but I really love Long Exposure.
Wishing you a great weekend,
LC
