I would need some examples to critique or give tips on. My number one criteria for curation selection is how well is the focus. If a photo is out of focus the whole rest of the image is distracted by it being out of focus.
I usually recommend taking more photos so at least one of your shots is in really good focus. From there composition and framing is important. How interesting to the eye is the imagery.
You don't have to be a pro or have the best camera... you just need to make the best of what you are working with and seize the opportunities when they arrive.
