A couple of weeks ago, I was treated to some amazing conditions in the park. A combination of frost, and beautiful fog. The forecast was for fog and grey cloud, which can be a bit murky and drab during the winter months. However, there was no grey cloud, I caught glimpses of blue sky above my head. The fog was bright and ethereal. It was gorgeous!
Here are a selection of images from the morning.
Conditions like this in winter have to be seized upon. As far as I'm concerned, they don't get any better than this.
I love how fog obscures the landscape, and makes the world look so mysterious...
Familiar views in unfamiliar weather....
There was another photographer there. We had a conversation about how much fog is too much fog. I think it depends on how far away one's subject is.... :)
The weather was still amazing when I left. I had to be logged in and working by 9.30. It's so typical that the best weather is always when I'm at work. At least sunrise is a little earlier now, and there is a slightly bigger time buffer before I need to set off home.

Thank you for the support @teamuksupport ! :)
Beautiful, I love the softness in your photos. The mist and the layers… the things that you don’t see but you know they are there.
Stunning. I love moody days, especially fog. That covers all.
Glad that you like them @littlebee4! The fog really does transform the landscape into something quite ethereal. My favourite sort of weather! :)
You are welcome @cathgothard 😊 mine too.
Lovely series! Ik really like the bw conversation. 😍👏
Thank you Thijs! I don't usually do bw, but I felt these images really work. There was so little colour in them anyway... Just lots of white fog everywhere! :)
You almost convinced me there is a real gost on the photos. Great shots!
Haha! That would have added an extra dimension to the morning excursion. Happy to report no RL ghosts were spotted. Glad that you like the photographs. :)
probably it is ghost of winter :P
It's open to interpretation, but I hadn't thought of ghost of winter!! I like it. :)
interpretation from a fresh-eyed person with a good vision might not be a bad thing, I hope! 🧠😋
A very good and most welcome thing! 😀
enjoyed your post but had to postpone providing any comments.
and, actually, idk what to say here? its beautiful, you know that yourself! natural monochrome...
(what time it was captured exactly?..)
I totally feel in the same boat with you! except I have sufficiently shorter day light hours here, at SPb. In december-january, on the peak of it I almost pause shooting outdoors, except some cases of street / night photography, and cant boast too much with results. but now light hours became better... and I dared to stel a few hours from my office duties yesterday -- as you may notice, it brought some nice opportunities... tho I dont have such splendid fog as you, at all.
but I have !PIZZA 🍕
Thank you @qwerrie. The conditions were absolutely lovely. It was a gift of a morning. :)
I saw your snowy post! Looks like you've had lots. Snow makes the world look so beautiful.
It's a rush to get up for sunrise and be back home for work, and I appreciate that it's less possible further north. Hopefully the extra hour or so of daylight that we now have will be helpful. Work really does get in the way of photography sometimes! :)
!PIZZA
!PIZZA? I heard somebody said pizza? I am up to that ;)
well, more to say, some of my friends and acquaintances (artists) prefer depraved moneymaking business ugly Moscow to St.Petersberg exactly for this reason - weather, and longer daylight, though SPb is far more beautiful place. it is all understandable. I wish you (and me) could earn off photography art one day enough money to live without going to the office on a daily basis! 🙆♂️
SPb looks very pretty from the photographs that you have posted, and from other photographs that I've seen. I'd definitely rather be somewhere pretty that has arguably less desirable weather. :)
It's so hard to earn money from photography, such a competitive area with so many good photographers. At least if photography is a hobby, there is no pressure to produce great photos every time one takes the camera out... :)
!PIZZA
but still easier than from, say, poetry, right?
(I started reading Patty Smith's book of memoires about the start of her career and life in NYC back in 70-es. she run a life more impoverished than that of a church rat! nice time and nice reading anyway...)
She's one of the coolest women on the planet! Bet that's an excellent read..... 😍
Yes. I love the epoch, love Janis Joplin and T.Rex and the Doors, love Leonard Cohen, Owsley Stanley, all this stuff. Back in 60-es mankind had a chance.... well, it did not win, it lose to the money... money won. and we live thru the concequences

Lovely photos. Many people think foggy weather is a bit depressing but I rather love it cause it has a very nice and mythical flair to it. Sadly where I live we don't get real nice fog that often.
Thank you @ryuslightworks! Glad that you like them. I love fog and mist - it makes everywhere look so atmospheric. It really was a beautiful morning to be out. :)
Masterpieces
Thank you Andrea! We both seem to have a soft spot for photographing misty / foggy conditions. :)
Manual selection by @qwerrie.
Thank you very much @cccf and @qwerrie ! :)
Lovely images Cath! That is some amazing foggy conditions. The fog gives the trees a different kind of mysterious character.
Thank you @alfredomora! The weather was absolutely gorgeous. Really thick fog, but lots of light filtering through. It was so nice... :)
great shots
Thank you! Really glad that you like them. :)
More epic photos! I think you can't have too much fog!!!
!PIZZA !LUV
Thank you @tdctunes, it was epically foggy! Super nice out. I think you can't have too much fog either! :)
!PIZZA
PS - nice foggy cat gif!
WE LOVE FOG!!!!
^^ This is beautiful!! ^^
!PIZZA
me too!!! sadly I have it and my camera matching so seldon. really sad.
Ansel Adams said that 12 significant photos in any one year is a good crop. So I think we're in good company. ;o)
ehehe. I can share quotes about 'having one recognizable song, in enough for a band to consider it successfull' (not convinced about that!) and, a good quote by R.Heinlein: 'talent lies not in writing one brilliant page, but in sitting yourself down and writing a lot of them every day"
)))
your morning !PIZZA 😋
Haha! I'm sure there are lots of good quotes. I suppose it depends on how one measures the success of the band... :)
Have some !PIZZA
ps. we had a splendid fog today in the morning.... I woke up at 7:30.... just observed it from my window - cant go out at all :/
That is a sad situation indeed. I'm so sorry you're missing out on the good weather. :/
@tdctunes(2/4) gave you LUV. H-E tools | connect | <><
got a fly and 39C, almost paused my CCC curation duties, but checked your blog to see no new posts. let me leave some !PIZZA then... 🙆♂️
Morning @qwerrie! 😀 Alas, the weather has been a bit uncooperative in the last couple of weeks, so no new park photos. I have a handful of images to be posted for my next blog, but I'm pacing myself so I don't run out of material. Otherwise, I'll be delving into my small back catalogue... :)
I don't know about a fly and 39C?? But have some !PIZZA
fly?... uhm, sorry for this typo that made you scatch your head.. I mean the flu. more probably it is a Covid, the current edition looks like a bit weakened. I have 37.5 for three days in a row now.
Ahhh... I should have figured that out. Sadly, I'm not very clever with words. Hope that you feel better soon @qwerrie, sending best wishes from London!
