The village of Verkhotor, Bashkiria. Church of the Mother of God of Kazan. The once large village is now half extinct. But the old church in the village was preserved and was even restored. The temple was built at the end of the 18th century for the residents of the village of Verkhotor and several villages nearby. In the 30s of the last century, as part of the fight against religion, it was closed and they tried to demolish it. It was not possible to blow up the temple - residential buildings were located too close. Crosses, domes and icons were dismantled. According to the locals, they have a legend that the icons were taken to the neighboring forest and buried there. But no one ever found them. In the 90s, the temple building was returned to the Orthodox. A major restoration was carried out and most of the building was restored.
