Ridge "Bolshaya SukA" of the South Urals

Bolshaya SukA ridge, accent on the last syllable. The ridge of the Southern Urals is located in the Chelyabinsk region. There are several versions of the origin of the name, but the Bashkir version - syuyk (suuk) - "cold" seems to me the closest. The highest point of the ridge is 1194 meters above sea level. The weather was lucky, but not entirely. In the middle of the ascent, we got into a large cloud, but already at the top one could calmly enjoy the natural views.

чепуха. сосны - прекрасно себя чувствуют.

Чувствуют то прекрасно, но вот только на полноценном грунте они более устойчивы - на склонах, где земли очень мало, они растут распуская корни в горизонтальной плоскости, соответственно, от сильного ветра они часто падают. А вот в лесу увидеть упавшую с корнями сосну - редкость. ТК они там вглубь свои корневища запускают.))

это всё правда. у меня даже где то была фотка, где видна была корневая система сосны в разрезе (в гранитных валунах) - на Ладоге сфоткал.

-30....uh la la. This is super cold. In some parts of Russia I have heard of temperatures below 50.

-50C is possible but it is quite rare and considered as an exception. when we have -30 (this happened several times on my memory) the schools and kindergartens are being put on a pause, for example - all children are officially allowed to stay at home. and at a temperature of -50C, for example, paint can peel off from public transport :)

ps. I hate winter and frost, actually. especially in my area, under a big humidity, it is very hard to deal with it, -- it deals extra suffering from the frost

but we can struggle with it staying at home and consuming !PIZZA

not at all... one one hand yes, but on another hand no. Personally I find it hard to live even under -15! (and also let me stress this: under high humidity conditions even -10C may be far worse to you than -30C under low humidity and windless weather). cheers!

I prefer anything over 1 degree hahahah. The minus gives me chills. Unless I am near a hot warm fireplace I am not enjoying -anything haha

No, I don't like skiing, only hiking. There are no ski slopes as there are mostly snow-covered rocks and forests

Ну а вообще, самый холодный поход у меня был примерно в -20 -25 градусов. Пока идешь - жарко, спина под рюкзаком мокрая... Останавливаешься на привал, и все, сразу мерзнешь очень... Единственный выход был, носить с собой пару запасных толстовок, и при остановке переодеваться в сухую.)
