The way I see every little thing on my Everyday life... [A photo journey]
People say that the way we appreciate the things that surround us, defines our taste... Don't blame me, that's what they commonly say... However, for me, there is a lot of truth behind that observation... And if we take it to the exclusive aspect of photography, even more so. It is impossible for there to be two photographs of authors, which are one hundred percent identical. Even if they are both located in the same physical space or event, such as a sports ground or the garden of a house... What I am trying to say is that the title I have chosen will give you an idea of what you are about to see... Which is nothing more than my personal appreciation of objects, places and people in as common and ordinary a way as they can be...
So, you can begin... The hallway of my house, for example... A place that I walk through every day, that is totally familiar, commonplace and that I don't tend to pay too much attention to, to tell the truth... Until, that is, the intrusive and intense rays of a sunny Sunday afternoon make all the difference. How could this be possible? A bit of chance, no doubt, the incidence of light and that at that precise moment I was feeling more susceptible. I had just finished the FX series ‘The Patient’, and I don't quite know how to explain it, but as I was leaving my room and heading towards the kitchen, I crossed that corridor and suddenly I knew it was the right moment to take the picture.
Something similar will happen to you too, I assume. Is it of any use, will I win a Pullitzer for this, or will I be a fake? Hahaha, nothing further from the truth.... But to my personal and subjective conception of beauty and I consider it; it is irresistible certain colours, occasions, postures, forms or lights that only occurs in moments of absolute surprise... The only requirement? Perhaps having the instrument close by to capture the photograph. In my case, it's a portable one by its very nature; my mobile phone. But I have a friend who never takes off his camera for a second and often when he goes out for walks or even on errands, he always has his camera with him. No matter what the context, he is always ready for the beauty of seeing.
There is one photograph that after having taken it, Super would love.... And it is of the boy, no older than 20 or 25, mowing the lawn of a huge, but I don't want to exaggerate huge private plot of land with only an old grass grinder and a damp flannel over his sweaty clothes, in the sun, in the summer (August 2024) around noon... Seriously, I can confess that I feel totally proud to have captured that moment. It didn't dream of reflecting the great work that poor boy was doing practically in solitude and under frightening elements from the human point of view, but it is a reflection of what was also a beautiful day. Worthy of going to a swimming pool or having cocktails by the sea. Oh, the realities of the people...
And yes, this little photographic journey also goes hand in hand with giving some recognition and value to those people, to those objects, and to those places that seem to be insignificant. .... I'm not so sure about that. Perhaps, they have not been observed at all well. Many times the stories that we make up for ourselves contain a lot of myth or fiction that we form little by little... The sun, with its rays, illuminates everyone and everything; true, true, but it also represents one more task, one more day to go to. Don't believe it, it is not easy to have to live with the burden of supporting others? And I think there is a lot of that in this modest and brief photographic journey for those who need a little hope and meaning. People, objects, places. Maybe we haven't paid too much attention, maybe who knows?
