Hey there dear Hivean friends,
How are you doing? I am feeling excited since there is less than two weeks till my USA travel. I am really looking forward to it. I will some of the details about my travel and I have an appeal for you as well!
I would be happy to hear some of the suggestions what to do and what to visit in Dallas or vicinity. My travel plan is pretty much finished, but if somebody is living in Dallas or in the area I will be happy to listen up to the locals recommendation. Also, if somebody travelled to Dallas and talks based on his experience that something is not worth visiting or would be better to go to some other place nearby, I will be happy to listen up.
Currently my plan is to do a lot in these not even full 10 days there.
On March 1st I will arrive and will go almost directly from the plain to The American Rodeo semi-finals which will be happening in Fort Worth, Stockyards.
The next day I have a little bit easier schedule, since I am only going to Forth Worth again, this time to see it through the day. Hopefully I will squeeze in some time for shopping at Dallas Praire outlet that day as well. In the evening I have a hocky game on schedule since Anže Kopitar is coming to Dallas. On third of March I am planning a half day trip to Caddo lake. That is the place where I expect best photos will be made. I really have high anticipations for this one, hope I won’t be disappointed. I am also searching for photography tours they offer at the lake, but so far without success for me. So if anyone knows someone who would be the right person for that kind of stuff hit me up please. If I will be back from Caddo soon enough, I will also visit Dallas botanical garden which appears to be very nice. At the evening I have my first NBA game in Dallas on schedule and this one is against one of the best teams – Warriors. No big celebrations that evening, since we have to wake up early next day to hit the road to Houston. As I have heard there is a big Outlet centre, so I am hoping to spend couple of hours there. After I also want to do a quick visit of the Houston downtown possibly by bike. Park there looks really nice. Anyone have any tip for Houston? At the evening I have booked up a rodeo again. That is supposed to be the biggest rodeo! Huge thing and I am looking forward to experience it. There will be also Ricky Martin’s concert, haha. I am staying in Houston just for one night and returning to Dallas again as they are playing an early game against Sacramento Kings. That is suppose to be Slovenian night, the game where at least 100 Slovenians, myself included will attend. Hopefully the atmosphere will be good and we will have some get-together with Dončič as well. As you can see I can not stay long at one place and I will travel the next day again. That time to San Antonio which they call the nicest city in Texas. Is that correct? On the way there I will have several stops including some great photography opportunities like Fossil Rim Wildlife Centre, Colorado Bend State Park, Hamilton Pool. Probably I will ran out of time for Enhanced Rock State Park, but I can still change my plan a bit. My wish is to stop at Austin as well, we will see how it goes and I might just do that next morning when I will depart from San Antonio. Before departure I have to see Alamo and Missions national historical park as well. After arriving back to Dallas, I will have my last sports event on schedule and that will be the game against Utah Jazz team. My time in US will slowly go towards the end, but I won’t relented and will hit the road on March 8th again to visit Witchita Mountain National Reserve. Hope to see some wildlife there! I will also overnight for the last night somewhere in vicinity and on the 9th I will drive back to Dallas to catch the plain for Ljubljana.
Too bad, I already know it will end a lot too soon, but from other perspective I know I will miss my family very much so I will be the happiest person on Earth when I will arrive back home the next day.
Like I mentioned before, all suggestions are welcome and let me end this post with some random photo gallery which will soon be changed with some new photos!
Oh man that´s some epically packed itinerary! I hope you will really get to see all these cool places and events. You now that not always everything goes according to the travel plan but I hope yours will! :) Cannot wait to see all those epic shots that you will take there. Oh and say hi to Luka for me! :D I mean the Big Luka :D But you can say hi to your Little Luka too :D
Haha, it is definitely packed! Better plan a lot and miss out on something if necessary. Hope there will be some good photography opportunities, but that destination and whole travel plan is not focused on photography and I do not expect such a great ones like in Africa for example. It is more of a experience as it is packed with events as well. But I promise I will do my best and bring some beauties home with me :)
I will greet both Lukas :)
Thanks for leaving such a nice comment and enjoy the weekend ahead!
Yo bro! It's Timmy. I live in the Dallas area. Definitely make sure to go to the Dallas botanical gardens and Ft. Worth has an Arboretum or Fort Worth Botanical Gardens as well. The Ft. Worth Zoo is one of the best in the United States if you have time and feel for that. Caddo lake is beautiful. I don't think you need a guide to find some good spots and shots. The Stockyards in Ft. Worth have a lot of photo opportunities. There are some art museums in Dallas and Ft. Worth that are cool... but i don't know if you need to check those out. Sounds like you have little time and a lot to do! Hope you have an amazing adventure here. Cheers bro!
Hey there!
Thanks for taking your time replying and for all the tips at first!
I had somewhere in my mind that you mentioned once that you are from Dallas.
Botanical Gardens seems very very nice! I had them on my to do list but at the end they fell out of the busy schedule. Upon your recommendation I will most likely include it back :) I also saw thing like Japanese garden. Is it worth visiting? In Dallas that is a seperate thing, but in Fort Worth is together with botanical garden. Which would you suggest to visit if you would have to choose one.
I read about Fort Worth Zoo being one of the best in US. I have seen the one in San Diego and LA and especially the San Diego one is really awesome! In Texas I somehow decided to include Fossil Rim Wildlife Centre rather than zoo. Have you been there? I like animals walking freely and to be able to come really close to them. Like a safari which that isn't.
I expect so much about Caddo lake. Have you been there also? I have no idea how to visit it. Is there only one "marine"? And you rent your paddle boat there? Are trails easy to navigate and can you actually take good photos from the boat. Are that kind of boats for two adults? I don't have any prereservation...
I will probably left out museums. I am not really much into it and also I don't have any time available like you already guessed :)
I am sure I will have an awesome time! If you would like we can try to meet up? Thank you for all the help, really appreciate it @castleberry!
The Ft. Worth botanicals are awesome... so if you are in the area and have time i would do it. You will get some great photos. Since Dallas has the Japanese garden and botanicals combined i would do that if you could only pick one of the two.
Fossil Rim is really cool and i do think you will enjoy that. Sometimes when the animals roam free seeing them can be hit or miss. But overall, you will probably get much better photos as they range freely.
Caddo lake is beautiful. I haven't been there since i was young so i don't recall. Most lakes in Texas are kind of a bring your own boat and drop it in then park your vehicle. They probably have a center at the front where you can get information... but i most lakes here don't have guided tours and such that i am aware of.
Almost all of the lakes either have rest and camping areas or places to have daytime events. It's kind of a free-for-all. There isn't much structure to visiting a lake. It's usually up to the individuals to decide where to go and what to do.
Marinas are usually places where people that have boats store them when they are not at the lake. Mostly so they don't have to tow them back and forth. I don't know if renting a boat would be the best use of your time since it's so limited. I think you will get better photos exploring on foot.
I don't currently drive so it might be difficult to meet up with your busy schedule. Regardless, i do hope you have an awesome time! Let me know if i can be of any more help to you figuring things out! =)
Awesome!
Thank you for all the tips.
Hope you don't mind if I will ask some additional question in the upcoming week.
Well if we won't see eachother in the States, you have to come to Slovenia :)
Have a good one!
No problem bro! Ask any questions any time and i will do my best to get you some answers.
I am looking to head back to Sweden in May. My girl's mom is from Slovenia... so it would be cool to see her motherland! hahaha
Take care browski and hit me up anytime!
Thanks a lot!
And wow, what a coincidence! Can't believe that she is actually from Slovenia. That is so awesome. Hit me up if or better say when you will be in Slovenia.
Take care!
Yes, my girl is half Chilean and half Slovenian but born in Sweden. Her mom was born in Slovenia but left at a very early age for Sweden. So, it's an interesting combo for sure. If/when we ever plan a trip i will most definitely be asking you a bunch of questions in advance! hahaha.
You take care too bro. We will speak more soon. =)
Big plans and nice photos as usually !

Upvoted 👌 (Mana: 80/100) Liquid rewards.
Thank you for the nice words and extra curation!
Wow, you have all planned out! When I travel, I normally have the first two nights booked on my destiny, a very very rough idea of where I'll go... and that's it! :)) I would love to see a live NBA game, let us know about that experience! Have fun! !BEER
Well, like I said, there are different types of travellers. My style with everything planned in a minute and to have a big time preasure is an option which is definitelly not for everyone.
I am a huge Dončič fan since he is Slovenian and one of the best basketball players. I am hoping for a good games.
Hope you'll have a blast!
Hello dear friend @crazy-andy good day
If you are an organized person, you have a well-defined plan, what you tell us sounds very good.
Without a doubt you will receive many suggestions that can be attached to your vacation plan
As always the images that you give us to know are admirable
Have a splendid weekend
I could say I am organized yes. I can not travel in a way I don't have everything planned. Someone would say that is bad choice but I preffer it that way.
Have a great weekend as well!
Maybe almost everyone wants a trip like you did, including me, especially when someone finds beautiful moments there, makes the mind more relaxed, and will certainly feel happiness there. I really like to do things like this in the future, hopefully I can do that as soon as possible.
Thank you for sharing interesting stories, may happiness always be with you. 🤗🤗🥰🥰
It will be quite stressed travel, but I kind of don't know the other way. But it will be a joy as well. A lot will happen so a lot of new great memories and also new photography to share.
Yes, many things were found on that trip, and it became a memory in itself.
An excellent and rich plan for the upcoming trip. I also plan every step of my travels in advance, although not everything always goes according to plan. This is fine. I am convinced that you will remember this trip for many years, and the photos will prove it! After an eventful journey, returning to the family is really a great joy:)
And as always, great photos!
I am always trying to do the most I can at the time I have at disposal.
If I will have to let out something, that is not too bad.
Well, I expect a lot from this travel especially from memories yes.
Will try to greet you all from my travel next week.
Busy itinerary man.... Hope you get to relax in between too.
I didn't know you were such a big nba fan, the Dallas - Golden State game should be a great one. Especially since it's after the all-star break and teams will be fighting for position. Luka is balling right now!
Enjoy your trip, looking forward to the shots.
No relaxation here. That will have to wait for the next time...
I am a big NBA fan mostly because of Luka Dončič who is also Slovenian. So that is my main travel reason actually. Can't wait to go to the warmups already and see how many threes can Curry knocks down in a row :)
Thanks for stopping by and see you around!
You seem to have it all well planed go with the flow enjoy and stay safe will be looking forward to posts 👍
Haha, I will try to dedicate myself to the flow :)
Hope it won't be to rough :)
Will definitely make some for my dear followers...
I know you will make the best of this holiday and you will bring back some great material to us all 👍
The tall waterfalls are breathtaking, and I believe the water temperature is quite cold. I hope to visit this place at least once in my life; your photographs are stunning, and I adore them.
I love waterfalls, but never have the opportunity to swim under one of them. Maybe some other time at some hotter destination...
Thank you for your kind words and wish you all the best!
Wow...a busy scheduled travel ! 😊 Great that you already enjoy the oncoming pleasure of it ! 👍
Marvelous photos btw, like usual ❤️
I know I am a bit crazy with that kind of schedule, but hey that is my nickname...
Planning is part of the travel enjoyment.
Now I just need to stay healthy for another week and I will be flying...
It's really amazing. Unfortunately I don't live in Dallas. . I hope one day you can visit the Raja Ampat Islands. Thank you brother for the scenic photo there.
Destination you suggested looks really nice. Hopefully I will visit once in the future.
Thank you for leaving a comment.
You are welcome my brother. Don't hesitate to let me know when you will visit. 😉
Travel is beneficial because it exposes you to new experiences and ideas. It can be stressful at times, but it is well worth it in the end. Sir, have a wonderful weekend.
Definitely travel helps developing ourselves in so many ways.
Thank you for stopping by and wish you all the best!
Stunning pics as always mate!
So you're going to US? Planning to meet @derangedvisions maybe?
I think Wes is from Utah :)
Thank you, thank you.
Wes is from Utah I think as Petr also said.
So probably we won't meet eachother, but I will certainly go to Utah once again as well :)
Busy itinerary in mind, hope some Hive members respond to your request on good direction to find the best.
Happy trip and safe landings Andy!
I know, it is too much for many. But I am used to this kind of travel and so far it paid of to me.
I get a good help from my community colleague so that will be helpful.
