Parallel (2023)
I was drawn to follow this canyon in the Blue Mountains (Australia) as far as I could go, driven by the curiosity of what's around the corner
Whilst I was taking this shot, I found a deceased wallaby in its final resting place, laying unceremoniously in the stream after having fallen into the canyon
It was a strange experience capturing something of such beauty whilst laying nearby was a stark reminder of this animal’s somewhat barbaric fate
I find myself associating the lush green forest with fresh air and life - forgetting that there is another brutal side to these harsh natural environments. A large part of the forest is decomposition of organic matter. It’s this vital process of death and decay that creates the explosion of life in the valley

Cheers! Yeah, they're pretty amazing & grow quite high up the wall to avoid the surge of water that comes through with rain
Yeah, sucks but that's nature for you
