The 2000 year old tree

A capture from the Barrington Tops here in Australia which I was lucky enough to visit when it was misty & accessible prior to landslides. Walking among these giant trees is such a surreal experience

This one in particular is a "Nothofagus moorei" or otherwise known as an Antarctic Beech & would have to be between 2500-3000 years old.

It's crazy to think of all the things that would have happened while this gentle giant slowly grew up...

Funny you say that! These trees are actually relics of the supercontinent Gondwana which started breaking up around the Jurassic era

The tree isn't that old but it's the child of the child of trees which were around then 🦖
